My family has stayed here two times now - once in late March with tons of snow and, more recently, once in late May when the snow was on its way out so we've seen the whole spectrum.
First, I love the location of the cabin. It's so close to Donner Lake with all its hiking trails we made ample use of. Even during Memorial Day weekend, those areas weren't overrun with people like they are in the greater Lake Tahoe area. Wonder how long until people figure this out. We chose to ski at North Star which was about a 15 minute drive away so no issue there. Safeway was about 8 minutes away.
As for the house itself, there was plenty of room for the seven of us (four adults, three kids). The main area has high ceilings and a neat loft where you can stash the kids to watch a show on the big screen why the adults play cards in the main room. The furnishings are intriguing (lots of native-american adornments) and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed. The bedrooms had comfortable beds and each had an attached bathroom.
Ok, I'll admit it. Internet speeds matter to me. This place clocked in at 100mb/sec which is ridiculously fast. Faster then I get at home! Getting the little amount of work done and streaming Netflix and such were a breeze.
Bottom line, I expect our family will be heading back sooner or later :)
