Vail Lake RV Resort
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 31 December 2016

We could see how Vail Lake Resort could be fun on Halloween. It's so remote that it would scare the adults. The lake is down, due to prolonged drought, so fishing wasn't much fun. There were no horses to ride, unless you travel on down 79 S for a few more miles. The landscape is tranquil though, and if you want to be in a quiet, secluded area, you might enjoy it. The campground and RV areas have so much potential, but not enough water.

Room Tip: Drive through and find your spot.

We were invited to camp with some friends this year for the annual Halloween festivities and we are very glad we did. For those who don't know, every weekend in October Vail Lakes hosts the "Terror in the Oaks, Halloween Weekend". Everyone decorates their trailers for Halloween and the kids all trick or treat in costume. Some campers even go as far as setting up haunted mazes through EZ Ups etc. It's a great weekend for families and is very kid friendly. I thought the staff at Vail Lakes was awesome making sure everyone obeyed traffic rules and kept the kids safe. Even though the place is a zoo I never felt my kids were in danger.

The campground is huge with over 400 trailer sites, miniature golf, a little restaurant where we had really good pizza on our first night. There are also swimming pools and what is left of Vail Lake itself (not much water left in it). The sites were huge, level and well shaded from the thousands of mature trees. New fire rings, full hook ups and well kept grounds!! Even with thousands of people the campground remained clean our whole weekend. There are also some great mountain biking areas within the campground if you're into that. Really easy drive from anywhere in Southern Ca. as well. Just be prepared to sit through quite a bit of Traffic once you're off the freeway.

**Note**Be aware of Bobcats. Although we did not see any personally we hear many reports from people who witnessed some not so small Bobcats the weekend we were there. Keep the extra little kids close.

We've been going here for Halloween for over a decade, 16 years. It's a great place to bring the family for Halloween.
Decorate your carts, bicycles, campsite and chariots. Bring lots of candy for the Trick or Treaters. Bring your carts or bikes to explore the area.

The campground is a fun place for Halloween. The haunted house, trail and haunted hayride are the best part of Vail Lake in October. The actors were great! You can tell a lot goes into the preparation and planning for this spooky event. This year's Medieval Madness theme was great!

Have been going here for over 11 years. It has always been clean and well-run. They have three pools to accommodate toddlers, kids and adults. There are restrooms and a shower by the pool as well as other sections of the campground. Laundry is available too. They always have entertainment on weekends in the summer and on weekends in October they are known for a haunting great time! Campers decorate their sites for a chance to win free camping usually and the kids trick or treat on Sat nites! WE LOVE Vail Lake! It is our go to campground!
Hope this helps!
