This is a wonderful property, great for a family with young kids or two adult couples. All the bedrooms are on the first floor. The second story is a living area with a well-appointed kitchen, dining, and family room. An upper deck is right outside the dining+kitchen area with stairs down to the back yard. Wood-burning fireplace (wood in garage), cable, wifi.
Temperature management is a bit of a challenge. When the bedrooms are warm, the upper floor is roasting hot. When the upper floor is comfortable, the bedrooms are cold. Difficult if you have a baby sleeping, but not a problem with warm blankets.
Booking through the property manager was slow and communication was tedious compared to other managers in Tahoe, and night and day compared to using Airbnb. The management company is staffed by friendly people, so I can only imagine they don't have much competition in the area so they're not bringing their A game.
When I arrived at the property, we discovered a tree top had broken off and fallen on the rear stairs, breaking the hand rail. It had been cordoned off to prevent using the stairs. The property manager didn't mention it before we made the trip, didn't mention it when I picked up the keys, and acted surprised when I called to ask about fixing it up. Major safety hazard. I didn't get a peep out of them until I contacted the homeowner directly. They never did fix the stairway, just left it broken for 2 weeks and never followed up. This was very disappointing. I would not have rented if they had properly notified us that the rear yard was inaccessible.
