Self-Guided Solvang Windmill Wine Walk
Ranked #22 of 40 things to do in Solvang
Attraction details

Was looking forward to this based on previous experience of son and daughter. We had a new person walk us thru the wine tasting. She had to defer to her coworker to answer most of our questions. No issue as this was her first day, but one would have thought she would have had an orientation to the wines and the process. The wines had a most peculiar taste, like they had been held over from the previous day.

Brent is probably the friendliest got in all of Solvang. I enjoyed the wines sampled and bought some for personal as well as gifts. A generous pour for the tasting and great atmosphere

We stopped in here for our first tasting of the day. The owner was behind the bar and we had a blast learning about his wines. Highly recommend for a fun time!

A couple of the wines that we tasted were ready to be bottled as red vinegar. The first bottle did not have a label on it, but had been marked with a marker pen. I had stopped for the pinot noir, but did not like any of their more freshly opened wine. The server did reduce our tasting fee from $15 to $10 each. Not a lot of parking available even during the middle of the week.

The place is friendly and inviting, however the wine is a little below average for the area. They didn't have anything that stood out compared to others in town. I'd recommend stopping at one of the other many tasting rooms.
