We wanted a peaceful get-a-way for the Christmas holiday. The woodsmoke cabin was perfect. My husband, me, and 3 boys (10,12,13) all had a great time. Brought the little dogs too. Our cabin was private, on the creek, covered in snow, warm and comfy with a full kitchen. The hosts are friendly and we felt very welcome. ***Tip for those using GPS- if you are arriving via Truckee and take hwy 89 north, just turn off the GPS after a while because it may tell you to turn left onto Old Truckee Rd where no entrance exists. Just drive till you get to Sierraville and you'll find it.

We were taking a kid up to drop off at summer camp. Yes, we're going back soon when we pick him up. I sat on the cabin porch and decompressed completely while the wife and kids played games and cards inside. Cute, rustic, very clean small cabins. Spotless bathrooms. Ridiculously clean. Gurgling mountain stream just behind (I did go in neked to refresh myself) -- no one can see) that gives a great sound backdrop during the day and night. I joined the cards games and just plain relaxed. The owners are hard working genteel sweethearts. The owners gave us pellets to feed the monstrous trout in their trout ponds, which the kids loved. They'll probably let you catch one and fry it up (there was a weber in front of our cabin. It's well off lightly traveled hwy 89, so you don't hear traffic. Yes, there was one mosquito in our cabin -- welcome to the sierras in the summer. Better than 500 around a lake in mid-summer, or even in a canyon where no one goes. altogether, a class act for little money. Planning to go back in the winter.

Rustic log cabins dot a large property divided by a creek. The sound of the water will lull you to sleep at night. Full kitchens in each cabin allow you to cook; 2 restaurants in town as well. Beautiful setting, gracious owners make you feel very welcome.
