Absolutely outstanding dinner. Freshly prepared salads, and entrees using locally grown products. Service was wonderful.

A beautiful and a little bit hidden location, but that made it intimate and special.
We had the grilled avocado, a recommendation from the waiter. It was amazing. The food here is great and well presented. Meat was absolutely perfect.
I would recommend to sit outside as much more cozy.

My husband found this restaurant on TripAdvisor while I was checking out the retail scene on state street. So glad we chose Barbareno!! We started with the grilled avocado and lamb pastor dish called especial!! And yes it was!! The lamb dish stood out as an amazing combination of tastes (a bit of heat) and textures. For our main course we shared the tritip. Amazing flavors and super tender. The only part of the entree that could be changed in my opinion is the beans. Nothing especially interesting going on there. For dessert we shared the eucalyptus flan served over cocoa Nibs that has so many amazing flavors in addition to the ones I’ve mentioned. Truly a unique experience. We hope to get back one more time while we’re here. Highly recommend!!

It took a while before we got noticed, but I have never seen a more accurate reaction to -not even- a 'mistake', as Jesse did to us. The food was TOP, so was the wine and we were really treated like queens!! Recommendable without a doubt!!!

We were at Barbareno on Saturday during a recent trip to Santa Barbara. The trip was to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Barbareno could not have been more special. Our server, Emily, was very knowledgeable, gave great suggestions, and was attentive without being overbearing or intrusive. Frankly, everyone there was so charming and delightful. The food was out of this world - particularly the appetizers (we had the grilled avocado and the eggamuffins). I loved that every dish has a resonance with local history. All of it was mouth watering. The restaurant graciously gave us a wonderful smores dessert to help us celebrate. It was a special night!
