“A nice break from typical foods”
Review of Cuisinett

Cuisinett

Cuisines: French
Description: Cuisinett’ Story Back in 2008, Geoffroy Raby had a vision to bring a new style of French Restaurant. Forget about your typical stereotype about French Restaurant, Geoffroy wanted to bring back the neighborhood café that he grew up with. A place where you can enjoy great food (and wine) at reasonable prices and in a casual atmosphere. Fast forward to 2011 and Cuisinett was born. Our team ‘s goal is to make you discover France through its Regional Cuisine and bring you on a delicious journey of French Comfort Food. A bientot Geoffroy and the Cuisinett Team

Cuisinette is a small comfy place with superb friendly service. It feels very welcoming and warm just to be there. It's nice once-and-awhile to eat something different from all of the other fare around Belmont/San Carlos. The food seems super fresh and perfectly made. Food is varied and french-themed throughout. Food prices are reasonable. I give it 4 stars because the wines are absurdly expensive, often the same price as a small plate of food.

Casual but one of the best places to eat in the Peninsula. Simple but authentic french menu. Everything is great from the ratatouille to sandwiches to the pork with sauce of choice to even the carrots and peas. Well balanced menu with something for everyone in the family. Our kids love the burger and the quiche. Small but good selection of wines and beers. Not cheap but you do get high quality and we’ve been very satisfied with the relative value compared to many other bay area restaurants.

This little downtown San Carlos spot is a fun little oasis of pure Frenchness. The setting is simple, the food is nicely crafted from fresh ingredients, and the service is very French - that is, pleasant but slow. It's also, unfortunately, a bit expensive, so we won't be coming on a regular basis, but it's a great spot for a mini-splurge on a nice lunch. Note that it's pretty busy on a weekend at lunchtime, but they manage the crowds well - it's counter service, but they ask you to wait to order until they know there's a table available for you to sit at. Note also that there is outdoor seating, but it's on the sidewalk near the corner of two very busy streets, so indoors may be the better option.

The menu is not huge, but offers a broad range of both comfort food and non-standard options. I have liked everything I have tried: quiche, ham & emmental sandwich, the "French burger." Staff is friendly and capable; the space is cozy in a European way. I love going there for the sense of being in a bistro rather than a flashy restaurant (like some of them on Laurel St.).
