“Need a history lesson”
Reviewed 18 February 2012

I love Old Sac, but for the average tourist it may seem like a lot of kitschy shops. If you learn about the history first it is an outstanding place to visit. There used to be a Discovery Center, but it either moved or is gone. It was pretty hard to find before, in a basement under a bar. There are lots of docents/guides around in yellow and black jackets if you have questions. Most of the restaurants and shops are pricey, but you can find some treasures in some of the non-souvenir type stores. My favorite candy store is Turtles for the homemade fudge and retro candy.

“History Buffs can appreciate!”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

If you like the wild, wild west and goldrush era, then you would appreciate OldSacramento. They have great restaurants there, plenty of gift shops, and museums. If you can, get on the river boat for their tour, it's awesome!

“Great historic part of town to visit”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

I liked all the little shops in the "old west" town. I got trinkets for he kiddos and enjoyed looking around. I didn't like the people sitting on the sidewalks begging for money from passers by.

“A Taste of Old California”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

With shops and restaurants galore, Old Sac has lovely views of the river and a real flavor of what old California must have been like. We've gone several times during Gold Rush days and had a wonderful time. There is something for everyone in Old Sac, be sure to visit if you're in the area.

“Better than Frontierland”
Reviewed 17 February 2012

It has all the glamor of the old west, the discovery of gold, and the great trains that brought people to the "promised land". Best of all, except for difficulty some days finding cheapparking, it is free. Mostly shops and old buildings. Make sure you walk to the river to see the paddlewheeler.
