Description: Martins West is both a pub and a restaurant; serving Redwood City since 2009. An homage to seasonal gastropub cuisine, we are passionate about giving our guests the best possible experience and best local ingredients that we can find. We take pride in being a gastropub. To us, it means taking our food seriously, but not ourselves. It means serving refined food in a cozy pub atmosphere. We’re happy to take advantage of Northern California’s bounty of local produce, fish and meats to bring you seasonal dishes alongside classic pub fare year round.

This is a great gastropub, with fresh and delicious menu options (their lamb burger is terrific). Their drinks and cocktails menu is also fairly impressive, including beers on tap. The restaurant does get a bit loud especially in the front section; the area towards the back is a bit quieter - but all of this adds to the lively and happening pub atmosphere. I have tried several dishes and the lamb burger is my favorite.

Belly up to the bar and ask the bartenders what to have - best to arrive just after opening to see one strongman bartender chop through a solid block of ice. Best show in town. The main draw of this place - besides the great selections of cocktails and beer on tap is the ambiance - diverse, friendly, lively fun.

Came here with a few colleagues. It was busy and seemed popular. Friendly service and the food sounded really great. However, when it came it was a little disappointing, like not that much meat on the fries dish (can't remember what it was called). I'd probably go again and try a few more dishes.

After seeing a review on KQED Check Please Bay Area, we were excited to find a new well rated restaurant in our area. We made reservations and were seated promptly. When our server finally arrived, she took our drink order and disappeared. The restaurant was not particularly busy at the time so it was surprising that it took more than 5 minutes to get 2 martinis!!
At that point she hovered over us asking for our food order. We ordered items that had been recommended by Check Please: Mac 'n Cheese, Bone Marrow, Burger, Fish and Chips, Oysters.
Amazingly enough, everything appeared at the same time while we were still drinking our Martinis.
That said, there was no time to have another Martini. Frankly, the Mac 'n Cheese had a watery sauce that had little flavor, the bone marrow was smothered in a weird topping which took the flavor of the bone marrow away. The burger had been ordered as medium rare and came well done. The fish and chip was okay except that the fries were cold and sloppy. The server never came back to table until we asked a busboy to find her so that we could get out of the restaurant.
We ate our very poor meal and left within 40 minutes of being seated.

It was ok and I would not drive out of my way to go here again. There are many restaurants in the area to try. The bartenders work hard to keep up with the volume and the drinks are the best. The mac and cheese is nothing special and the desserts need work.
