Great hiking trails and lots of nature. Terrain can be a little steep in places. The mining displays are very interesting. Have not done the paid mine shaft 'tour'. Picnic area. Stream. All around something for everyone.

History abounds here. A visit inside the Gold Bug Mine is a must but make sure you wear a coat.

A must when you are in Placerville. Make sure to take the mine tour and also see the stamp mill. My son especially liked having to wear a hard hat : ) Hands on history is the best way to learn about the gold rush.

I loved the mine and the audio tour. Easy access, even for less mobile persons. Very well constructed stopping points in the mine. Easy to understand. And, just like Disney, has a gift shop at the exit! I would definately return to this park, and recommend it to others. Allow about 30-40 mines for the self-guided tour.
