“Wonderful location, friendly staff”
Reviewed 19 March 2012

To celebrate my husband's birthday, I surprised him with a trip to Pismo Beach. Sandcastle Inn was offering a special (ocean view room & dinner voucher), and (based on Trip Advisor reviews), I booked the special.
Our room was spotless, and opened to a balcony facing the beach and water. Breathtaking! I will say having a lower floor room has its drawbacks - very noisy neighbor upstairs, so next time I'll book a top floor (well worth the additional $$'s).
The Inn is ideally located, and we thoroughly enjoyed walking to the pier in the evening to watch the sunset. The breakfast room is lovely, also facing the water, and the food just fine. They also offer cookies in the late afternoon, but if you wait too long, they're gone (especially if a lot of kids are staying at the hotel).
There is no air conditioning, and even though it was the first weekend in March, it was very warm. Because we were on the bottom floor, we weren't comfortable leaving our patio door open to enjoy the cool evening air.
The staff was wonderful - very welcoming and helpful.
The only negative, was that a room two or three doors from us was very VERY loud on Saturday afternoon. Apparently they were throwing some sort of huge birthday bash, with a bunch of people gathered in the one room. There were children on the beach, that belonged to several members of the group, and a few of the adults felt it was necessary to constantly scream at the kids, trying to get their attention. It made it extremely difficult to sit on our own patio and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. It would have been nice if someone had intervened and asked them to keep it down.
Overall, I can highly recommend the Sandcastle Inn. We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Spring for a top floor with a view - well sorth the extra dollars and you won't have people abov...

Recently we stayed at The Sandcastle Inn and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The room was beautiful, comfortable and clean, and right on the ocean with an awesome balcony. The breakfast room was friendly and also looked out on the water. The food was fine -- the usual breakfast fare. I love the convenience of having breakfast right there at the hotel. Most of all I liked the staff, all of whom were very friendly and accommodating. The price was good, and since we got the dinner package we also enjoyed a very nice meal at Steamers Restaurant. You won't be disappointed if you stay at the Sandcastle! And be sure to get one of those yummy cookies at the front desk!

Room Tip: Be sure to get a room with an ocean view. It's worth whatever extra you pay!

Great hotel right on the beach. We didn't have a reservation and came across this hotel by accident. What a hidden gem. Got a room with. Balcony right on the ocean with an amazing view of the beach and pier. The rooms were very clean a a good size. Beds were comfortable. Yummy cookies at the front desk and coffee and tea always a available in the lobby. It was cooler so we didn't get to enjoy the beautiful patios and hot hot right on the beach. Great location to the shops Nd roght next to the pier. Would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Definitely worth booking the ocean view!

Staying in a beachfront room was one of our priorities on this trip. This hotel certainly met that priority. We had an outstanding view from our room, which was very comfortable and clean as well as beautiful. Our only regret was not getting a room with a fireplace as the weather was quite cool at night. The short walk to the beach and pier was perfect for us.
Be sure and see the monarchs if they are there. And a visit to Avila Beach nearby is worth your time also.

This Hotel is right on the beach on Pismo. It is very clean and well kept. The ocean view rooms look amazing, unfortunately they were booked and we had a partial view room. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast was basic, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, bread. No meat and the only eggs are boiled.
Our main complaint would be the spa was cold. We had read this in other reviews, but when we say the spa was cold, we mean not even able to use it. We had friends staying at another hotel & we used their jacuzzi because it was heated to a comfortable temperture.
Overall, I think this is a great hotel, but the price seems a little high for what you get. If location is your priority then it doesn't get much better, as most of the hotels in this area are not this close to the beach.

Room Tip: Ocean view!
