Restaurant details

There are 3 Northridge restaurants; this is the one in Penn Valley. Up to a few months ago, we went here about once a month. But gradually, we realized that either the cook or the server got our order wrong about one third of the time. In addition, take-out has never once been ready at the time they told me to come in for pick-up. Furthermore, we have to wait at the counter to pay, until our server shows up, instead of whoever is at the cash register being able to take our money. I went back for a take-out order in December, 2017, to try again. Got home and my wife said, "Where's the salad we ordered and paid for?" If you check and double check every detail, and are willing to send incorrect items back...the food is very decent. But we now go to the Northridge in Nevada City instead, at least once a month, and often take friends. They get everything correct 95% of the time, and the food is almost always very good, as is the service. We recommend the Nevada City Northridge. Since we live in Penn Valley, we look forward to returning to the PV Northridge when we see evidence of improvement.

We eat here (or carry out) pizza fairly often, when we are visiting friends in town. Although I tend to be a pizza purist (pepperoni, mushrooms and maybe olives if I'm in the mood), I have discovered that several of Northridge's specialty pizzas (especially the Greek) are pretty good also. (Just don't try to get me to eat Hawaiian!) They have a nice chewy crust, crisp on the bottom, tangy sauce, and gooey cheese. Yum. If you dine in, there can be a pretty long wait, which gives you time to drink some excellent beer on tap (including local brewpubs) and share an order of bottle caps (fried jalapeno slices).
They also make some really good salads (my wife likes the creamy dill with chicken and avocado) and hot sandwiches, and have a variety of burgers and some Italian entrees which we haven't tried.
Lively, loud atmosphere. The waitresses are typically hurried, but friendly and provide good service.

If you want pizza, you can’t go wrong. Northridge also has a wide variety of excellent burgers. Their menu is American with appetizers, pasta, fish and chips, sandwiches and salads. They also have special nights where they feature Mexican food, ribs, etc. Very popular locally with a bar where locals watch sports while enjoying a varied beer selection. Restaurant tends to be noisy so we try to sit in the back room where there are booths as well as tables. It is quieter so you can converse more easily. Kids menu as well. Good for families.

We go here often and the food is always good. The service is also good, unless they get busy. Sometimes it seems like there aren't enough servers.

We have had inconsistent food quality here especially with Mexican night dinners. Sometimes the meals are great, and sometimes they are truly awful. Last night was awful, as our food smelled off and tasted funny, and looked nothing like it should or did on previous visits. This has happened several times, so we are now rethinking whether to visit again soon. Management needs to check the quality of their food before sending it out to patrons.
