Between the location upstairs among a cluster of small nondescript eateries and the laid back and unpretentious decor I expected a run of the mill Thai restaurant and was surprised to find unique Asian fusion that was creative, stylish and adventurous but accessible. The chef, Kimmy Tang, has been in the business for over twenty years and just started this new venture four months ago. She makes a point of coming to your table for a chat which always makes a meal more memorable. The chocolate hazelnut tart was outstanding and served with style (see picture). The lemongrass chicken was tasty with lots of vegetables. Try the meatballs filled with chocolate lava sauce if for no other reason than you never have!

Recently enjoyed lunch for two at Bistro Mon Cheri- just opened a couple months ago. There are some reasonable lunch specials but we wanted to try different dishes.
Yummy appetizer of crisp chicken wings with a sweet coffee sauce dripped on top of them. Loved the Ikasumipsuta with squid ink noodles and seafood- refreshing and filling. Shrimp va-va voom was OK, a bit pricy with several butterflied shrimp fried in a light crust and served with pieces of pineapple, strawberries, onion and bell pepper in a sauce- and a serving of rice. For dessert we shared a delicious mango sorbet served in a sliced of mango peel. The passion fruit ice tea was incredible -made with real juice. Great service.Chef Kimmy Tang greets seated diners. Located upstairs building with many restaurants on corner of Colorado and Mentor Streets. Very convenient parking in back of 950 Colorado for $2.00
