Decent Budget-Friendly Hotel in Good Location

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks agovia mobile
I have mixed feelings about this hotel. It feels expensive for what you get. However, it is located in Palm Springs where everything is expensive, so I suppose this makes it a fairly reasonable option for those trying to be budget conscious. It is obviously an old motel that has been renovated, and it shows in certain areas. The pool area, front desk (in an adorable airstream trailer), and onsite restaurant look new, are beautiful, and have a super fun design. The rooms appear to have new flooring, new furniture, and all-new bathrooms, but for some reason the doors were neglected. Our door appeared to have new paint, but the paint was already really chipped and the doors and locks felt flimsy, like they could easily be kicked open. The bathroom mirror was also placed incredibly high, so I had to stand on my tiptoes to apply my makeup. In addition, the walls were very thin – we could hear the guests next door talking. My last issue is that you need a key to enter the hotel grounds but one night when we went out to dinner we found someone had propped the gate open with a cinderblock. Another night, we had someone asking if they could follow us in because they were trying to get to the restaurant. On the plus side, our room was large, the shower had great water pressure, we had an amazing view of the mountains from our room on the second floor, the hotel is well-located just minutes from the downtown area by car, and I appreciated the fridge and safe. We never used the pool but it looked like a fun area that a lot of people enjoyed gathering it (just be warned there is a resort fee whether you use the pool or not).

Very friendly and cool staff. Nice little hotel with a retro vibe. Pool is heated and hot tube is fantastic !

You can also rent some bikes to visit Palm Springs ! The hotel has a restaurant with a variety of menu and cocktails ! We only tried the cocktails though 🤪

Room tip: Free parking in front of the hotel

I had the great pleasure of staying at The Skylark for six nights in October. I extended my stay for a few extra days while working remotely, and the staff graciously moved me to a room with an even better view for those days. The rooms are great and the pool is perfect for floating in and lazing around. Everyone from the "front-desk" staff to the housekeeping crew couldn't have been better, and the food at the on-site restaurant was brilliant. Definitely recommended!

Room tip: Try the on-site restaurant!

Great stay! Cute vintage vibes and wonderful staff. Clean room with quality furnishings. The pool area is comfortable with cabanas and lounge chairs. The staff are helpful and kind. Good location, close to shopping and downtown nightlife. We will definitely stay again!

What a delightful little hotel. 5 friends stayed in 3 rooms for Desert Air Festival. We booked separately but I contacted Walter and he was nice enough to put our rooms next to each other. The rooms were very clean and in great condition. The pool and hot tub are open 24/7, but the heated pool was a little too cold for me, even during the day.

The new restaurant, Lost Property, was so good we ate there every morning. The staff at the front desk and the restaurant are so chill and friendly.

The radio had Bluetooth, so it was nice to play my own music. I do wish the TV had some kind of streaming option, like the ability to cast from a phone or computer to the TV. They only had live TV so we didn't watch much.

Overall the stay was wonderful, and I'll stay here again next time I visit.

Room tip: Bring a Roku stick or Chromecast if you want to watch your own stuff

Wonderful service. Clean rooms. Friendly staff who have time for you. Chill vibe. Food was better than expected and at reasonable prices. Honestly everything you could hope for in a hotel is to do what was advertised. They did it with charm and warmth especially
Scott who made me feel very welcome.

Room tip: The way I at the back parking lot is the gate. Bit confusing at first.
