I meet a friend at La Farine several times a month. I get mint tea and a scone -- plus one to take home. She gets a savory. Then we sit and chat for an hour or so. Lots of people come through. Most seem like regular customers. The staff is friendly. The selection good and fresh from the ovens in back. Need a loaf of bread or a fruit tart or a cake? This is the place to come.

La Farine provided the fruit tarts for my husband's 80th birthday party last Sunday and they were fabulous! Five were fruit tarts that looked like works of art - each a little different, but with berries surrounding mango or peach slices shaped to look like a beautiful flower, very flavorful as well. The other two were Peach Frangiapanne tarts, sliced and spices peaches over a wonderful flan cream and in a wonderful crust. The best part of this order was that all seven tarts were FRESHLY BAKED on Sunday morning (even with the heat wave); they made a magnificent show for the dessert part of the fiesta.

How cool is it to have this bakery so close to the bus station? We live around Lake Merritt and so we were waiting for the 339 bus that takes you up to Chabot Science Center so that we could hike to Redwood Regional Park on Sunday! While waiting for the bus we were getting hungry so we hoped across the bus station to this lovely bakery. They had so many great options from savoury to sweets and freshly baked breads! Already hooked!!!

We got 2 ham and cheese morning buns and then we came back after our hike to buy some sweets just before they shut at 6pm. Friendly service and amazing treats. Highly recommend if around the area!

They have several locations but this one is only two doors from Peet's. Stop for coffee first select any Pastry here then sit down. Much more room here than crowd into Peet's seating.

This bakery has excellent croissants, morning buns & pastries. My favorite is the savory morning bun with ham, red onion & cheese. They also have good breads & cakes. Service is good & there is a free parking lot at the back of the building.
