This Courtyard is more a hotel than most. It is large, very busy, and very urban. Lobby is like a formal Marriott hotel more than a traditional Courtyard. Rooms are clean and pleasant. All in all this is a surprise!

I stayed here with a friend for 5 days and it was awesome. Our room was large, modern and clean. The housekeeping did an amazing job. The front desk guys (Eugene and Adham) were sooooo friendly and nice! Like THE BEST front desk people I've ever encountered at ANY hotel! Adham found out I was a bit under the weather one day and sent an organic tea up to my room to help me feel better... so sweet that he went above and beyond! The male housekeeper who was topping up the pool towels was also super friendly and genuinely nice. The hotel is only a block away from the BART line, so super convenient for getting into SF. This hotel is great. Shout out to the staff for an amazing stay!!!! Highly recommend!!

We stayed in this hotel because we had several days of activities planned in San Francisco, and hotels were too expensive in the city. We were very pleased with this arrangement. We had our car, having driven up from Los Angeles, so we bought the pre-paid parking at the hotel as part of our reservation, but if you were flying into Oakland you would have no need for a car. We took BART into the city every day, which was a short walk from the hotel. We also enjoyed having the chance to get to know Oakland, walking Broadway, and seeing Jack London Square and First Fridays, and some good restaurants in the area. The hotel was clean, the rooms were good, the service was nice. The pool is a bit small and sad (didn't use it--there is no jacuzzi), and the food options in the lobby were not great. You do better heading out the door for your cup of coffee and breakfast.

Recently stayed Fri through Sun in room 241. Room was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Didn't hear any street traffic even rough our room faced 9th street. Had a decent workout in the fitness center and then took a stroll through china town for some pastries and coffee mid morning. Had a nice dinner and drinks at some restaurants close by. Walked to the BART and went into SF for some site seeing. Did not need our car all weekend.
Only issue was the noise level inside the room corridors. A lot of activity after 2 am from guests partying in different rooms. Hallways smelled of pot. This isn't a cheap motel security should be patrolling the floors. Other than that it was a good stay.

Hotels in the bay area are always so expensive, you have to really research which ones will best suit your needs. We wanted something central, affordable, and that is exactly what we booked. The newly renovated room was nice and it overlooked the swimming pool and parking lot, so exterior noise was never an issue. Staff were all very friendly and personable, providing information on the local events (there was a 5K run one morning during the weekend).
Nearby to the Bart station, so traveling to the City was very easy. Walk across the street (on Washington) for some shopping, local cafes/restaurants, and Swan's food court that offers up a variety of cuisines; we had breakfast at Cosecha (Mexican) and it was absolutely delicious. We'll definitely dine in one of the many local Chinese restaurants during our next visit.
You don't really need a vehicle, the overnight parking is expensive, unless you luck out and find street parking (but make sure you read the signs and pay the meter). Rideshare apps and public transportation are readily available if you stay central to the city. We had a day in the wine country (Geyserville, Russian River), so a rental car was necessary.

Room tip: Request a room that overlooks or faces the swimming pool/parking lot, very quiet.
