Escale Vacances is well located in Port Mathurin, far enough from the centre that it's very quiet, but only a 10minute walk to the bus terminus, which makes travelling super easy! The accommodation was simple and clean, breakfast was somewhat limited (bread + butter/jam/cheese + banana + scrambled eggs/omelette + tea/coffee/juice) but the dinners were varied and very tasty. The pool is a decent size, great to do laps in (though it doesn't get a lot of afternoon sun)! The staff is polite and friendly, and did very well to cope with a group of 32!!!
I would definitely recommend it for anyone travelling on a budget!

Room tip: The 2nd floor rooms seem to be quieter (less movement in the corridor), and they all look onto the pool rather than the road.

Situated on a quiet street in Port Mathurin, a short walk from the bus terminus this hotel is well priced, clean and friendly. Serving tasty, fresh local food with friendly staff. We had entertainment in the evening and enjoyed swimming in the large clean pool. The room I was in was a good size with a very comfortable bed. The shower was not the best but still fine to use and unless you speak French don't bother with the TV.

Definitely worth returning to.

Room tip: Shared room are not as good as the single / couple rooms.

Great, clean and quiet accommodation close to the city centre of Port Mathurin. In an about 10 Minutes walk you are in the city centre, the bus terminal to reach the rest of the island, the harbour to hopefully see some awesome sunsets and the market (which is on Saturdays) to buy local goods like cake, curries, chutneys and handmade products for kitchen and wearing.
Food was good, they did some extra dishes for vegetarians at dinner. The pool was clean and so far I haven't had such a big water pressure like here in the shower in whole Mauritius.
In the cupboard you find a little fridge to store the drinks you can buy down the road or in the city. AC and TV (7 stations seem to be over Canal+) on the room. The prices at the bar are ok and the staff were all friendly, helpful and overall great people.
The evening entertainment on Saturday with local folk music and dance was great, the live singer on Sunday evening was for my taste too loud.

Room tip: Room with Balcony to the road (which is a quiet dead end road), room to the pool area has no balcony

This small hotel is just a short walking distance from the centre of Port Mathurin and the market and bus station. One feels you are out in the country as chickens walk about all over the place. The food is good and carefully served by a wonderful staff. Prices are very reasonable and there is a good swimming pool and bar area.

Room tip: Some rooms have a balcony on the 1st floor
