This Is the third December in a row we’ve met at Muldoon’s for our Christmas get-together. You can’t beat the holiday vibe. This year 3 of us ordered the ‘bangers & mash. Too good. I make our reservation mid-afternoon, a little quiet time between the lunch and early dinner crowd. We make sure Scott is our waiter. He puts the occasion over the top.

As I finished my Smoked Salmon lunch at Muldoon's recently, it reminded me of just how good the food is here. Yes, people think about it being a warm pub where there is often very good music and drinks. However, too often the quality of the food is overlooked. The people here have always been extremely pleasant and the place clearly has an atmosphere that brings you back. I definitely recommend.

There are many plusses about Muldoon's-the different bars and seating areas, the excellent service, the entertainment, and the fine food. We have been going there for years, and have never been disappointed. Our last meal there was bangers and mash, with a half shot of Jameson's to top off the evening! Tip-we have been there both during the Christmas season and for St. Patrick's Day, and immensely enjoyed those visits.

Our family gathered for lunch at Muldoon's to celebrate Mother's Day. We were able to make a reservation for our party of 6 and we enjoyed sitting on the lovely patio. Most of our group are beer lovers and Muldoon's has a big selection of Irish brews; one in our party chose a cider and he enjoyed it well enough to take a picture of the can so he can search it out! I had a glass of Hahn pinot (full-bodied, though a little too earthy for my taste). My husband and I had checked out the lunch menu in advance so we came prepared to share the Goddess salad and the St. Paddy's burger--plenty of food for us. The Goddess was almost like a chopped salad, with lots of tasty ingredients--carrots, cucumbers, olives, hard-boiled egg, little potatoes, and smoked gouda. The hamburger was delicious--juicy, cooked just right, with cheese, bacon, avocado, and a very fresh bun; handcut fried on the side. Others in our group ordered Irish stew, shepherd's pie, a corned beef sandwich, and a large stuffed baked potato. The lunch menu at Muldoon's has something for everyone, most items with an Irish spin. Prices are reflective of Newport Beach (most hamburgers were $15.95, though they were very large with 1/2 pound of Angus beef). The service was fast and friendly. I would certainly recommend the delightful patio for lunchtime.
