Great experience! The hosts were very friendly and hospitable. The greeting and check in process was easy. The room was nice, very clean, and loaded with nice amenities. The soaps and shampoos were nice. The towels were luxurious, as was the bedding. Very convenient location.
The breakfast was excellent! Multiple items, all meticulously prepared, and a different breakfast the second day!I would stay again.
One thing to be aware of: The driveway and parking lot are a bit tight. We brought a full size pickup (last minute trouble with our normal car). Bring a smaller car if you can and avoid the parking meters on the street.
A very sweet experience staying here. Owners are so personable and make you feel welcome. Breakfast is special and delicious. Rooms are comfortable. You are treated like family. Historical home makes it even more ideal. Well located in town. We will plan to stay again.
Thank you, Ken and Barbara! We slept in heaven on that fabulous bed in Mollie’s Room! After leaving unimpressed by a 5-star resort in Squaw Valley, your beautiful B&B far exceeded our expectations. The comfortable bed sheets, impeccable cleanliness of the room, and the delicious breakfast (thanks for the extra piece of bacon, Ken- lol) makes us want to return soon!
Lastly, your downtown location makes it perfect to stroll down Broad street and check out all the cool shops and restaurants!

My wife and I were on our way to the Bay Area from Lake Tahoe and decided to spend one night in Nevada City. A trip I would recommend because of the ruggged western gold rush charm, great food and drink, along with a lot of shops. And of course a great place to stay in the Madison House B&B, run by the Barbara Johnson and her very capable husband Ken. The room was tastefully decorated with period pieces, great bed, and an ensuite bathroom with shower. As it was was around 90 that day, the air conditioning was very much appreciated.
