This was my first bed and breakfast and one of my most wonderful first time experiences. Owners were extremely nice, home was beautiful, clean and elegant. Town has lots to do, food is wonderful, people are socialable and extra friendly. Already planning our next trip. Sam and Yvonne

These folks treated us like old friends, we walked in without a reservation and they took us in with nary a blink. We felt fight at home! Fresh baked cookies, easy off street parking, plush linens, this is a quality place

We enjoyed a quiet mid-week evening away in Nevada City. Our hosts were wonderful and the home is charming. I really liked the homemade cookies they had on the tea bar. Breakfast the next morning hit the spot after a relaxing cup of coffee in the parlor room looking out on a sunlit and cold morning
Room tip: Balcony room has a gas fireplace if you like it cozy.

This was our third stay at The Madison House and we have already booked for Jan 2019! The charm, comfort, and location are unbeatable in the lovely town of Nevada City. Hosts/owners Barbara and Ken are most welcoming. Their breakfast offerings are all homemade and delicious, served graciously and with a smile. Barbara and Ken want to ensure your happiness and enjoyment and they do so without hovering. Tea and cookies are always available, the smell of fresh brewed coffee will waft up to your room in the morning. They provide a fridge for your use should you want to bring wine/beer or snacks. The 5 bedrooms are all furnished with period pieces; the bed linens and towels are luxurious. Bathrobes, hairdryer, and mag mirror are supplied along with bath gel, shampoo, etc. I can promise that you will not be disappointed when you decide to stay at this beautiful property. Thank you Barbara and Ken for always spoiling us with your generosity and friendship. We look forward to many more visits!

We love Barbara and Ken. We stayed with our wonderful hosts the first year they bought The Madison House, now 4 years. We sign up for next year when we leave.
Great Hosts. Great location, breakfast and rooms. We always meet wonderful people staying there.

We had my 60th birthday celebration in Nevada City. We had all 5 rooms at the Madison House for our friends and us. We actually had most of Nevada City as we had over 100 people at the party. The Madison House was the best place in town so that was our headquarters. Barbara and Ken were the best hosts in their original 1865 house. We have stayed there more than a few times and will be back.
