“Best off the beaten track wine tour”
Reviewed 2 August 2011

Bob from Chic Family toured us around old Napa, Main St and the old Victorian homes. Afterwards he took us on a one of a kind wine experience @ a small local vineyard Astrale e Terre - Wil and the winemaker, Eddie toured us around and taught us very quickly the A-Z of wine-making. It was the most amazing, one of a kind Napa wine experience. Thank-you Bob for a fantastic day!

“The tour guide will go the extra mile.”
Reviewed 22 July 2011

This tour was an overall great experience. The tour guide (Bob) was very knowledgeable about the history of Napa, including stories of its early residents, and he went above and beyond to make sure we had a positive visit to the town.

The tour began with a walk around downtown Napa to see the river, old storefronts, and Victorian-era houses. Bob knows the proprietors of several old mansions (now bed and breakfasts), so we were able to check out some luxurious abodes. The owners of one of them even brought us fresh-baked cookies when we stopped by.

We then hopped in Bob's van and visited two wineries in the area for included wine tastings. At one of them, we were able to walk through the vineyards while Bob explained the art of growing grapes in the Napa Valley.

There was a fair amount of walking, so bring comfortable shoes, and a camera is a must for the old mansions and the vineyard. In total, the tour lasted about four hours.

“A great mix of vintage old Napa history with new vintages”
Reviewed 20 July 2011

Great information on the history of Napa. The walking was easy and only a portion of the tour. Bob knowledge of the area both past and present really enhanced the tour. The winery tours in Coombsville were off the beaten path and not open to the general public.
A fun two hours! Thank you

“Personable, insightful tour”
Reviewed 20 July 2011

This tour of historic Napa and surrounding vineyards was informative and excellent. Our tour guide had a wealth of information to share. He begins with a short walking tour of several historic buildings downtown, including a visit inside one inn. The next stops (by car) are two wineries, which are "off-the-beaten path" but quite lovely. Chic's advice for out future travels was also quite excellent (he recommended a great restaurant at our next California stop). He is a very personable guide and appears to have a lot of connections to the community.

“A side of Napa I didn't know existed.”
Reviewed 18 February 2011

I have lived here since '73, enjoyed tasting wines at many places, but today I learned about a new apellation--Coombsville. Bob Chic, our tour guide, gave us some history & background on the vintage homes in Napa, then we drove out to Coombsville and visited "Black Cat" winery. It was a "personal wine adventure" with a local wine maker--exceptional wine, great stories; we learned a lot. Bob was very knowledgeable and our interest never wained. The tour and winery were so outstanding we joined the wine club. We heartily recommend Chic Family Tours to Napa Natives as well as out of town visitors.
