We were at a bit of a loss, where to go for dinner? Over the weekend, there is lots of waiting for the same restaurants.
Crowds and noise galore.
Massaro and Santos is located at the quiet end of Cannery Row. Tucked away by the coast guard building, on the Wharf.
Walked in and was pleasantly surprised. Small, quiet well decorated. Smells from the kitchen? Pasta.
Soon it was filled, with couples out for dinner.

My pasta primavera was just what I needed; fresh veggies and homemade pasta.
Husband's pasta dish loaded with scallops and bay shrimp.
Simple delicious and far from the noisy places of Cannery Row.
Reasonable pricing.

A lot of visitors to Monterey might miss this place--it's in a marina at the end of the Coast Guard pier. There is both indoor and outdoor seating--we chose outdoor because it was quieter. The menu is large and includes seafood, steaks, and Italian dishes. Our food was very good and our server excellent. The food is a bit pricey, which is why we're giving it four stars instead of five. But it's a fun special occasion restaurant. We recommend this place.

Place is just at the pier with wonderful views, you may choose to sit outside they have few tables there. Food was good, both chicken sandwich and seafood pasta were fresh and delicious and service excellent.
Portion size was good.
Wonderful ambience.

We had gone on a whale watching cruise and came back to the area to do some shopping.

We found this place and decided to give it a try. So it was later in the afternoon around 2 perhaps 3 the place only had one other customer in it.

It was upstairs and over looked the marina. You can hear the sea lions barking at one each other from the Coast Guard Pier. In the distance you can see whales blowing water .. quite amazing.

The waitress seemed to be irritated that we were there. She was friendly enough, but curt and kind of in a rush. Not sure if the restaurant was closing and we came in, or what the situation was but that kinda took away from the experience.

The food was pretty tasty, I got some ravioli thing that had some seafood mixed in with it. My wife had the fish and chips, quite fresh.

It was a bit pricey but you would expect that from a place on a pier that serves seafood.

There was a man in a wheelchair upstairs eating, and I noticed when he left they had an elevator access, for those that might need it.

So it was quick if not rushed service, tasty food, and a bit pricey. But all and all I would go back again.
