We LOVE Shade!
We go often and just when you think it can't get any better it does. Attention to detail is always on point. It's everything you would imagine it to be and so much more. The staff always goes above and beyond to make sure you have a 5star experience. Thank you Shade for a wonderful weekend.

This little hotel has a lot going on. Great food, great bar, great sun deck. Locals seem to love hanging out there which says a lot. (hip locals, not the local "characters") Great shopping and dining nearby.

Shade Botique hotel.
Great people. Great attitude.
2 blocks from the pier.
On Tuesdays, there is a farmer's street market next door. Big.
Great hang out. A good place for a meeting and only 5 miles south of LAX.
Big time breakfast included, salmon and all.
Only about 30 rooms. Mine had a big tub in the middle of it.
Rooftop lounge is killer.

Room Tip: Do not take first floor room if you can help it.

Our first visit to Manhattan Beach visiting relatives, and the Shade Hotel was recommended as the best place to stay. We walked everywhere, did some Christmas shopping at several of the shops, ate at lots of restaurants including Zinc in the hotel. All in all it was a very relaxing 6 days at Shade. The breakfast buffet was perfect for us, lots of healthy choices, fresh different juices every day, and in the evening there were always either chocolates or cake pops on the pillow. The tempurpedic bed was heavenly, as well as the pillows for a perfect sleep. Not sure about the jacuzzi bath in the room, I tried it once and it took forever to fill, but the shower was great, and natural soaps and shampoos provided were lovely. The glass fireplace in the corner was a real novelty on the cool nights.
Everyone was very friendly, great location near the beach with miles of walks in either direction. One day we walked to Redondo Beach and saw the new Shade Hotel under construction, one to consider for next year?

Second visit in a couple of years. Excellent service, friendly, accommodating and efficient. Great location 2 blocks to the beach and walking distance to everything. Bar area is buzzing at night. Rooms are well equipped, beds are great. If anything, the room decor looks a little 90's, but it's still funky / boutique in feel, and clean / well maintained. Complementary breakfast was good and is a welcome touch. One of my favorite hotels for a few nights away.
