I stayed there last night. The hotel has two stories and no elevator. It is a motel style building with exterior walkways with all the doors opening onto them. The back side of my room #201 had a nice balcony with chairs facing the courtyard.

Even though the door was along Riverside Drive, it was quiet. Everything worked and it has good air conditioning. The king bed was comfortable. The furniture could use updating.

Service was friendly and easy and is available 24/7. Overall it was a good value vs. the more expensive hotels on Ventura Blvd. especially if you have a car. If you don’t have a car, you’re walking distance available restaurants etc. are limited.

This was our 4th stay at The Mikado. It's the perfect location, close to our family, easy to pull in and get out. Traffic is reasonable on Riverside. There are places to eat and stores within walking distance. We feel safe there, staff very accommodating, room has microwave and fridge. Pool water is too cold for me, but hot tub is nice! It's all we require. Appreciate free breakfast, its very good. Room is clean. The best deal for a reasonable price. We will go back again.

This place is supposedly a 3* hotel I "won" on a bidding site. It's a dump, I was so embarrassed to ask my wife to sleep here. The room looks like a place homeless would crash for a nights sleep. Room smelled of pure cigarettes and no natural light to speak of. The shower looked like it had recently used because of freshly used soap in the shower and hair in the drain. When the front desk was informed they actually laughed and offered to bring us more toiletries. I paid about $130 on a discount site and feel I paid 2X what the room is worth. See attached photos for yourself. Never again

We just got back from our trip to Universal studios. Hotel is great for the price you pay. Doors do face outdoor area, so somewhat has a motel look. We asked for a room facing the pool and it was very quiet and safe. The breakfast was really good, good value if you consider going to a restaurant which will cost you a minimum of $50 for 3 people in this area. We paid less then $10 to get to Universal, also a great deal since parking there is $25. I would like to thank the staff at this property for their hard work. We really enjoyed our stay! We will definitely come back!

We stayed in room 238 on the second floor. The highway just behind the room. Quite loud sounds compared other motel/motel we stayed at. View from balkony, a broken tarp. Another surprise roadwork just outside our room, laying new asphalt 0700 in the mornings. Then there is loud sounds in the night from pipes in tge room keeping you awake
The staff is not so customerfriendly. When complaining you just get a sorry and a fakesmile. Worst 900$ we spent.
