“our experience of the Hotel.”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

My partner and myself stayed for three nights inFeb, The room was lovely but the view was not. There was a constant noise throughout the night from some sort of machinery outside.
The carpet in the corridor was taped together but if one went on a higher floor it was like stepping into another world. The staff were excellent and kind.
The gift shop alas was not I ordered something which I was told would be delivered to the UK within ten days.......am still waiting.Having paid $13-95 international delivery charge I am none too pleased. I appreciate the shop has no dealings with the hotel but it does ruin the reputation of an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Don't go to the gift shop.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We apologize for the noise issue during your stay. We wish we were aware of the issue and could have relocated you to another room to improve your experience. Please do not hesitate to contact our guest services team to resolve any concerns during your stay. We are in a process of beginning a few renovation and restoration projects, and the carpet will be part of it.

We have sent a personal message to you via TripAdvisor message service as we have asked the Gift Shop manager to follow-up with you directly to address your concerns. Hope you have received it.

Thank you for understanding the gift shop is NOT affiliated with the hotel as this is not the level of services we strive for.

We hope you will come back and visit us again soon. Thank you.

I enjoyed more than one stay, I believe I have been here for one week in the summer during the last three years. Old building but remodelled. The hall is very charming. Staff helpful, but cold. Tipping is a must, everybody expects it. Room comfortable, but it gave me the impression some furniture was missing. Of course from any side of the building there is not a great view of the city. What I liked the most I could exercise anytime of the day and night. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam bath, sauna, exercise room are accessible throught the room key at any time. Only exercise room and sauna are opened all night long. Towels are always available. Great tea room inside the hotel. Buffet breakfast too expensive considering the little choice one has. Overall great experience for anyone going downtown Los Angeles for business or leisure. The downtown area is not very safe. Parking is available but only valet. It is a good try!

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are glad to learn you would recommend us as a great choice of hotels in Downtown LA. We apologize for the guest services experience you had encountered, and that's certainly not our standard level of services. We have shared your comments with our management team to address the issue. We would like to share there is a self-parking option just right across the street at Pershing Square. We have a discounted rate established with the parking garage. Please feel free to inquire with team at your next visit. We look forward to seeing your return to our hotel.

The Biltmore was constructed at the height of the 1920s land boom; few expenses were spared in the building of this landmark on Pershing Square, and nothing like it will be built again. The lobby and public spaces are grand and glorious and maintained with evident pride. The rooms vary quite a bit; we ended up needing a room with two beds instead of the king bed we'd reserved and were delighted with the huge and quiet room we were given, on the rear court of the hotel. Part of the pleasure of staying at the Biltmore is its lavish Beaux-Arts architecture; one has to accept minor blemishes of age as part of the charm, like the make-do repairs to the corridor carpeting. The level of service at the hotel is high and we found the staff charming and helpful; the maids wear black uniforms with white ruffled aprons that make them seem almost like historical re-enactors. The plastic cups in the rooms are the result of an L.A. county health ordinance, and housekeeping gladly supplies fresh glassware (and additional pillows) upon request. There are a lot of hotels in downtown L.A.; the Biltmore is in a class by itself.

Room Tip: Request courtyard facing rooms if you need an extra-quiet room; Pershing Square side has traffic noi...

What a beautiful old hotel! I'm so glad I had the opportunity to experience staying there as it is rich with history and you can "feel" the memories as you walk the halls and lobby. To think of all the people that have stayed there through the years, the parties, anniversaries, wedding and other special occasions that have been enjoyed there in the past is amazing. The rooms are very spacious, clean and quiet. The pool and health club are superior and staff were exrremely friendly. Parking is a bit pricey but no more than other high end or downtown hotels. The only negative - and it's enough that I won't be going back unless it is changed - is the internet. It is $9.95 per 24 hours which that in itself is silly with today's modern technology and access to Internet - but they charge that PER DEVICE!! So with two of us in the room from out of country, we each had a phone and laptop. That would be $40 for Internet! I don't pay that much for two months of unlimited devices so that is a bit much. Until that policy changes, I can't give the Biltmore a second visit or give it the recommendation it deserves.

Some say this is the most photographed hotel in the world. The Beatles stayed here in the 1970s, arriving by helicopter and avoiding the paparazzi. My husband and I were at The Biltmore for the 100th anniversary of his law school, enjoying an after dinner talk by Justice Sandra Day O'Conner. The food was amazingly good for a 600 person banquet, and so was the service. We enjoyed our room on the Club level because we could have appetizers in the evening (smooth and easy) and continental breakfast in the morning (crowded; no place to sit). The most outstanding thing about the hotel, though, is its bygone era decor. See my photos. Speaking of photos, the hotel has vintage photos of the hotel and Los Angeles area throughout. It's a grand old place.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful stay and the beautiful photos! We are thrilled to hear your husband and you had such a great time with us! It was our great honor to be the host of the milestone event. We were excited about the dinner and are more delightful to hear your enjoyment of it. Thank you! We hope you will come back and visit us soon. One way to enjoy our property is sipping afternoon tea in our Rendezvous Court, the Downtown LA's living room!
