Horrible service, Tiny rooms, Pathetic staff

Review of Kawada Hotel
1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 23 July 2019
The staff members are outright rude and have a disgusting attitude. They are literally the lowest service provider I have ever seen. My dinner on first night was stolen from the couch in the lobby, while I was with the reception. They refused to help. The manager when asked to show camera footage said that "the cameras are only there for show and they do not record".

The rooms were tiny and hot, the air condition was weak and old, bathrooms were filthy and small. Outside the hotel is like a convention of homeless dirty scums. They keep entering the lobby while the security guard does nothing. Overall it was a horrible experience.

The front office manager could at least turn on their cameras or either stop lying. Disgusting. Never stay there and save your goods.

They charge you like a 5 star hotel and they don’t even have hair conditioner, I’ve been in 30 dollars hotel and even they offer basic hygienic kit. Really I don’t understand, and I even ask for help and they didn’t even bother. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!

I booked one night at the kawada as it was a meeting place for my group tour. The bed was very comfortable and the AC kept the room nice and cool although it was quite noisy. Staff at reception were polite and helpful. It isn’t in the best location of most of the hotspots of LA but for a base it’s very good.

Kawada Hotel-
We stayed in Kawada Hotel from 29th June - 2nd July. Our experience was a solid 10/10!
We reached the hotel a bit earlier than the check-in time, but the staff was really accommodating and let us easily check-in.
Service 10/10 - Everyday we’d step out early but always return to a well made bed and clean room.
The location is a pure win, since its 1 minute walk from the subway station and also, super close to downtown -so you don’t have to worry about missing out that LA nightlife! :)

I had a few days off and decided to check out our backyard " Downtown LA" with my wife. I got tickets for "The Broad" and knew I wanted to explore and eat nearby too but did not want to drive if I didn't have to. The room was clean and the location was great. The room was a little small but updated and there was even a mini fridge. We walked to the museum and we checked out Grand Central Market, all within 10 minutes of the hotel. We felt safe. The next day we even took an Uber to the wholesale flower market. Onsite parking of $40 was a little steep with parking lots around for $10 a day but no enclosed or attended overnight parking.

Room tip: Great location especially if you are visiting Disney concert hall, The Broad and the Grand Central Market. Safe location.

Very close to the grand food hall which is open until about 10:30.
As it is downtown, should you walk round the area, please make sure you go the toilet before leaving the hotel as places like subway, McDonald’s etc don’t have toilets which I think is due to the homelessness in the area.
I would recommend going the broad art gallery which is 5 mins walk up but make sure you book a week before as queues all the time.
One evening we got the bus to ‘the original pantry’ it is worth s visit.
The hotel is close to the train station so we got the train and bus to Griffith observatory, oHollywood a few times and to Santa Monica pier.
Loved Griffith observatory. The Hollywood walk of fame is quite short, as the further you get down you realise there is not much to see. We had something to eat at ‘Mel’s diner’ here as it was nice inSan Francisco and it was the same here so I would recommend. Marshall’s is also here along with a shopping centre so you can get some bargains in Marshall’s which is like TKMAX in the UK.
Santa Monica Pier was a let down. Basically s few old tides and lots of food stalls. Not what I expected.
Lots Angeles is very spread out so I am not sure if we made the best choice with the hotel but we made the most of public transport which was fine and reliable.
