Hotel conveniently located near Petersen Automotive Museum, La Brea Tar Pits and Page Museum. (PS all a must see)
Priced correctly for the area. Only inconvenience is parking that hotel staff say should be resolved shortly.

We had a tough time choosing a place to stay in LA, it is just so spread out! We ended up choosing this hotel as it seemed to be pretty central. We didn't have a car, and didn't have any trouble using public transportation from here. We walked to LACMA and the Tar Pits, and to and from the Farmer's Market and the Grove a couple times. The hotel is located in a fairly nice residential neighborhood, so it was very quiet.

Staff were all very friendly and efficient. Our room was ready when we arrived, even though we were checking in a little early (noon). The room was large and bright, bathroom functional, and everything looked clean.

I personally would have appreciated different non-pastry options for breakfast, but everything was fresh and tasty, and it really is just personal taste. Pepsi machine in the indoor courtyard at $1 a can was a great deal at the end of the day when coming in after a long day of visiting!

I stayed at the Wilshire Crest for four nights in late May. The room was quite large and kept clean. I had little contact with the staff except at check in and check out. The location is in a residential area. I did not have a car so parking was obviously not a problem, and getting an Uber/Lyft was quick and easy. Restaurant options in the immediate area were quite limited. The Breakfast options in the hotel were quite limited but sufficient to start the day.

All in all, I would recommend this hotel if you are aware that it is a small family run hotel and not anything fancy.

We were in town to visit our daughter, and Wilshire Crest was very handy, only a few blocks away. The area was quiet, pretty, and secure. The room was large and comfortable. I agree with one reviewer below, the hotel has a European aura. That may also explain some of the complainers below, the service is correct but not fawning. I also agree somewhat with those disappointed with the breakfast, while there WERE boiled eggs, the other offerings were rather limited. Fortunately for us, we are Blue Jam Cafe addicts. In one last negative finding, though one that is almost universally true of ALL hotels, the hot water dispenser had a soapy taste, ruining any tea brewed with it. Why can't hotels just get a mug and a microwave! Easy, clean, and reheatable!

We've been to LA many times and stayed at many hotels. We stayed at the WC for about 7 days for the first time a week ago and loved it. It's a great little secret. I would describe it as a cross between a B&B and a hotel. It's a nice, clean hotel. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. The rooms are roomy enough, the lobby is very comfortable and everything is clean. (Note to management: the big stuffed chair in the lobby is past its prime :) Most of what we do in LA is in West Hollywood so this location is great. And parking is really no problem at all. WC gives you a permit to park on Orange St. You just have to be aware that there is alternate-side street cleaning on Mondays and Tuesdays. But even getting home late, we found spaces. The free breakfast is good but spartan. We opted for a first-floor room since there is no elevator. The walls are not as thick as in a chain hotel but any noise was minimal and not bothersome. It's about a 20 minute walk to The Grove (tons of shops/restaurants) Thanks for making our stay enjoyable! We'll stay there on the next trip.

Room tip: We stayed on the first floor which was convenient, but I am sure the upstairs rooms are just as nice.
