It was easy to arrive to Hollywood HIstoric hotel by car, but we had not noticed that you have to pay for parking, which was in very small print in our booking site, so extra 18$ per night was not a pleasant surprise.

Check-in staff was really nice and we got room with a great view. It did get little bit noisy during nights because of the noise from the street. Shower was mediocre, I could not stand there because the shower was so low. Bed was fine and wifi worked.

For the price it was okay, not great.

Room Tip: Best to have room from the upper floors for some great views and less noice from the street

True to its name, this hotel has the appearance of being very historic and quaint, with lots of photo’s of famous movie stars hung along the hallways. A lot of effort has gone into the décor and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Overall, we did enjoy our two days at this hotel.

One other interest quirk is the lift – once you press the button, you have to wait for the ‘chime’ before opening the wooden door – and the surprise is that the lift will only fit 3 people – it is extremely small, but very novel. If you have lots of luggage, it may only fit one person!

The rooms are a bit smaller than you’d expect, but they do have a king size, very comfortable bed. The linen may be a bit old but very clean. Staff will empty the rubbish and provide new towels and replenish the free bottled water each day, but you will need to hang the Maid-Service sign for any change of bed linen.

The bathroom is also very small and a bit dated and could use some new taps and plumbing. My husband is left handed which made it difficult to shave as the sink & mirror are both in the corner next to the bathroom door. Unfortunately, plugs are not provided which means you will need to have the water constantly running to shave, brush your teeth etc. When I asked why there were no plugs, the explanation I was given was that previous guests had deliberately left the taps running, causing the sinks to overflow

This is a great hotel if you want to be close to Melrose Avenue for shopping and touring the Paramount studios. It is also very close to the StarLine Tour bus route – stop 14 - which makes it easy to hop on and hop off along the coloured touring routes. The hotel reception can explain the process. and I would certainly recommend it if you want to be close to all things Hollywood.

The room also comes with free WiFi AND a distant but unmistakable view of the Hollywood sign if you’re in a front-facing room just across the road from the fuel stop

Room Tip: Ask for a front facing or front corner room & BYO sink plugs

I would recommend this spot if you're having a look around LA, we traveled by car, and they had parking (although you did have to pay for it) it's close to local attractions, and centrally located so not bad if you're heading further to look around. Seemed like a nice enough neighbourhood. Rooms were clean and it had all the amenities needed. Try and get a higher floor with a view if possible. It is next to Melrose Ave which can be a bit noisy, so keep that in mind if you're a light sleeper.

Room Tip: High up for views, not on the road side for peace.

We really enjoyed our time here in LA at this hotel. Lovely 20’s style hotel, with a great deal of charm.
5 min walk from paramount studios and a very cheap Uber taxi to everywhere else, such as; Hollywood Boulevard, Universal, Griffith Observatory. Highly recommend.
Room was clean and the bar next to reception is a great place for a drink and meal

We spent the night at the Hollywood Historic Hotel because we had tickets for the Dr. Phil show the next morning at 8:00 am. The drive from our location in the Inland Empire to Hollywood on a weekday morning would have been awful. The hotel has a lovely lobby with stained glass windows and a vaulted ceiling. We were given the corner room on the third floor. While the bathroom was very small, it suited the needs of two women just fine. If you have ever stayed in old hotels in Europe, this is the style...simple furnishings.

We saw the lights of the planetarium from our window. The street was noisy and the weather hot so the windows were open, but that didn't stop us from getting a good night's sleep.

Someone said that the hotel wasn't near anything, but it is a few blocks from Paramount Studios which is behind the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. We had a delicious sauerbraten lunch at Musso and Franks which was a few blocks further. I would love to stay her again on our next trip into Hollywood.
