How could any rate this dump higher that 2 stars for location. Carpet extremely dirty, no air conditioning, noisy location especially when you have to keep the windows open. The rooftop patio has a great view but is not monitored so the homeless wander up, hangout there and smoke pot. No parking anywhere even in the lot they send you to at $25-$30 a day. After dinner be prepared to step over a few homeless sleeping in front of the place. I will say the continental breakfast in the morning was good and well stocked which was a surprise.

Stay away if possible but there are not many choices in the area. This place was expensive and still the cheapest around Venice. There are not a lot of restaurant choice around the area. I'd advise to go a few miles down to Santa Monica, a much nicer area.

Room Tip: no good rooms

Highly recommend NOT staying here. My friend and I booked a room here, and then were warned about the area being less than stellar. But we decided it was only one night, and to just suck it up.

We arrived at about 8pm, and there were no parking spaces in the the sketchy lot; so one of the employees had to move his car so we could park.

Then when we went to check in, he said the only room they had had a broken lock, and they would need to let us in our room, on the 4th floor, whenever we needed to get in... room 403. At that point, I was a bit speechless but we continued on.

When we got to the room, there was no shade on the window (could clearly see people across the alley), the carpet was disgusting, and the overall feeling was lackluster and dirty.

We decided this was unsafe to stay here, not to mention unclean, so we returned to the front desk and asked for a refund - false advertising and cleanliness, locks, shades issues. He said the hotel policy says they need to charge unless we cancel 24 hours in advance. I pointed out that we had actually arrived, and adhered to our end of the policy. We were looking for a refund due to the other issues. He said the manager was the only person able to give a refund, and the manager was away for the weekend. I suggested he add that to the list, that not having ANY manager reachable was absurd.

So now we wait to see if they refund. But we decided it was worth losing the money to not stay there. And we did also contact the credit card company.

Booked over the internet - ok experience, they did outline other costs.
Parking - price rediculous, space small
Staff - friendly and helpful
Hotel - needs new carpet
Rooms - clean and spaciouse but old furniture
We chose a corner suite to have a view of the ocean, didn't need the extra view of the homeless. We were seranaded at 5:30 in the morning but a young lady who was so happy to be alive but could not hold a tune in a bucket. You had to laugh.

Would I stay again - yes for convenience of being on the boardwalk but I would not pay extra for a sea view.

Great proximity to good bars and restaurants of all types.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep past 5:30 don't book an ocean view

We stayed one night in February. We loved it! Our room was tiny, but super cute and clean. It had (clean) hard wood floors, so we had no 'dirty floor' issues that other people have mentioned.

Friendly, helpful staff on check-in and check-out.

Our room faced Dudley, and we could see the ocean from it. Extremely walkable location - we walked EVERYWHERE around Venice and then easily back to the hotel.

Across the street from Dune - voted best Mediterranean restaurant in L.A. - DELICIOUS! We did not try the free breakfast so I have no opinion on it, but I like that it was available.

Pro tip! Do not use their parking! The hotel will charge you $25 to park in their lot, which looked VERY hard to maneuver in and out of. We did not use it. In the alley behind the hotel are more than one paid parking lots. We paid $30 for a very easy to get in and out of lot which was very close to the hotel. Definitely worth the extra $5.

Enjoy!

The check-in was completely hassle free, even though i had some alterations (wanted to pay via another CC), and the staff obliged with a smile. That being sad, the staff is one of the rare things this hotel has going for it.
The room type was honored (twin beds), and was located on the 4th floor. The room itself was on the other hand one of the worst i have stayed in i would say - the floors were dirty (ok, i can understand that it's an old hotel, and it would take a lot to refurbish the floors), but i simply can not accept that the bedding itself was very dirty as well. The bathroom could use a fixing as well (the shelf under the mirror was broken). The amenities You would expect from a hotel (even a 2 star hotel) werse missing (only received 1 soap, and 1 bottle of shower gel). All that would not be a problem if the room was not 200$ for 1 night. You can get a much better deals in my opinion for the price.
