I found this hotel to have everything my family needed, including an excellent restaurant for breakfast and a fun bar in the lobby. There was also the side bar, which was very entertaining on the weekend. The meeting rooms were spacious and the location was perfect if you want to be downtown L.A. I recommend a corner room on a high floor because the views are great and the room is quiet.

Room tip: 19th floor corner room was very large and had expansive views of the City and all the way to Hollywood

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times for business convention purposes. I cannot say enough great things about my experience here. From the quick check-in desk with very professional and efficient staff, to the cleanliness of the rooms, to the amenities on site. A bonus is the very spacious lobby, lobby bar, separate bar, and Ford Fueling Station restaurant all located together in the lobby where it becomes a place to see and be seen. Within walking distance are The Staples Center, The LA Convention Center, The Microsoft Theater (formerly Nokia, American Idol fame). Also very good restaurants are all located in this triangle downtown all within walking distance.

The JW is a very big convention hotel, conveniently located next to or nearby several restaurants and the LA Convention Center. The lobby area has a coffee shop, a couple restaurants, and a bar.

The elevators operate by room key - which can sometimes be annoying, but is obviously necessary. The added security makes you feel comfortable.

The sleeping rooms are spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The TV has plenty of channels (if you have time to do that), and the workspace was very adequate for many hours of working.

The bathroom had a very spacious rain shower, plenty of counter space and an energy efficient toilet. The amenities were great too.

There was plenty of space for clothing & shoe storage too.

The only bad thing - no mini bar! I couldn't believe it. When I stay in luxury or large hotels like this, I really need a mini bar. It's too inconvenient to go find a gift shop. I will say that they refreshed the bottled water each day though - so there was that.

As far as hotel staff: the bell staff, housekeeping staff, meeting room staff, valet, etc., were all very nice, responsive, and accommodating.

The bars were sometimes a little slow, and some of the bartenders weren't that friendly, but overall they had a good selection to choose from, and good service.

There was ample meeting room space for small or medium sized meetings, but if you need more space and have to use the convention center - it's a bit of a disaster. It's inconvenient to get over to the center. It's hot. It's a bit of a long walk. There was no real easy way to get over there. The shortest way was to jay walk across the street - which caused several of our people to get tickets - and then enter a parking garage and go across and through the basement of the convention center. It was pretty annoying. The other way around was equally annoying because it was just a long walk. And if you're in heels - forget it. My Fitbit showed over 10,000 steps by 2pm each day just from the walk. No matter what shoes I wore, my feet hurt. For the older people with limited movement or disabilities, this was not good. Many of them couldn't make the trek, came in complaining of sore knees & backs, and were dripping with sweat. It's just too hot in LA to not have an air conditioned sky bridge or underground walkway. I'd also recommend a moving walkway.

The hotel is very conveniently located next to the Staples & LA Live Centers though - very easy walk to get to those.

Overall, this was a great stay, and I'd definitely go back. But my suggestion for any group is "make sure you don't have to use the convention center if you're staying at this hotel - use the hotel rooms." Unless you have a young and able-bodied group.

The convention center was big and too spread out. It didn't have any water in the rooms. No real snacks to buy. Nothing. And it was too far from the hotel to go back and forth. I saw a Christian group BBQing with makeshift grills at the side entrance to the convention center because there's no food inside. On the day that the grill was open inside the center it offered very few options and was jam packed with people. I was not impressed by the convention center AT ALL. But the convention center staff were very nice and overall the rooms were clean. The acoustics were horrible though so it made it hard to hear in meetings without a mic.

This hotel is literally connected to the Ritz-Carlton and across the street from the Staples center. If attending something at either Staples center or convention center then a good location. Otherwise, wouldn't stay here just for sightseeing. It's not the safest part of town. Walking to the convention center is a 10-minute hike. If you're short (like me) and wear business attire, you'll sweat like a pig in the summertime. Looking at Google before I got to the hotel everything looked a whole lot closer. In reality, it's some pretty long walks. Rooms are nice, very modern. Hotel lobby restaurant is Ford's Filling Station and Harrison Ford's son is the chef. Very good food, decent service. Plan on about a 45-minute ride from the airport, longer if during rush hour. We were advised to give ourselves an hour to get to the airport on a Tuesday morning leaving at 9am. Also advised that security lines at airport are often 1-2 hour waits. Lobby is really loud due to lobby bar. Another bar off the lobby called the Mixing Room is not quite as bad unless crowded. Really nowhere in the lobby to have a decent conversation and that was frustrating since was here on business. Not a whole lot of entertainment options within walking distance but Uber and cabs seemed plentiful. Don't try Uber from the airport, too many LAX regulation ps/restrictions.
