“Great Location and Very helpful front desk staff”
Reviewed 13 March 2012

The front desk staff went out of their way to be helpful in every way. The location is perfect- within walking distance of the chinese theatre and walk of fame and only a couple of blocks to the freeway if you are driving. The valet parking rate (valet only parking) is a little steep at $22/day, but actually less expensive than the Hilton next door. The hotel was sold out the night we arrived so a Platinum upgrade was not available but the room we were given was more than adequate. The comparatively large refrigerator was also nice to have. The only area upon which they could improve is to have self parking available and have the valet offer to help with the luggage which he did not.

I've just returned from a trip to this hotel while visiting Hollywood. Everything was beyond expectations. The hotel is reasonably priced, safe, comfortable and quiet. We were very close (walking distance) to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Grauman's Chinese Theater, Hollywood tour companies, Madame Toussard's wax Museuem, a variety of restaurants and bars, etc. The hotel emplyees were very courteous and attentive. Hot breakfast is served daily. It's not gourmet, but it was nice to have! The beds were comfortable with updated bedding (comforter and duvet) and lots of pillows. We slept very well. There is a pool at the center of the hotel. We did not swim, but it looked very clean and well kept. This was a great location to be in the heart of Hollywood.

Room Tip: The breakfast room, pool, fitness center and business center are all located on the 4th floor.

On a recent trip to LA, I stayed in this hotel and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed my stay. The staff from front desk, to housekeeping, to valet were very friendly. Unlike another lodging that bills itself as the "Hollywood Hotel" but isnt, this one is mere steps away from where all the action takes place: The Chinese Theatre, Walk Of Fame, Wax Museum, etc. My favorite part was coming down for breakfast and seeing the wide variety of food available. It's billed as "continental" but I would argue that they went above and beyond that as they had a ton of food waiting for all you hungry travelers! You just cant beat if for the low price!

Snow in London meant my return to the UK was delayed by one day, so - having stayed Downtown for the earlier part of my stay in LA - I decided to spend the extra night in Hollywood.

This Holiday Inn Express has been built next to another hotel, which used to be the Holiday Inn in Hollywood - now part of a different hotel group. I stayed at this hotel a few years ago, so I knew the area well and was happy to give my business to the newer Holiday Inn Express.

It is very close to the main Hollywood/Highland Metro (underground) station - just a short walk up pass the expensive Renaissance Hotel - so you are very close to all the sights, shopping and dining areas. You can't stay at a better location.

My Platinum Priority Club membership was acknowledged with a room upgrade. My room was on the front of the building and yes, there is road noise that starts around 5am/6am in the morning. The room was medium-sized, with a brightly-lit bathroom and kitchenette. There was a sofa and dining table, which led into the bed area. The under-window-mounted air conditioning unit worked well, though was noisier than wall-vented systems. All the fixtures and fittings were in good condition, well-maintained and the furnishings were comfortable. The free WiFi service worked well.

This hotel is unusual in that the "main floor" is on the 4th floor, which is where you'll find the breakfast room, business centre, fitness area and outdoor swimming pool.

Breakfast was the usual hot and cold buffet breakfast. If you know what to expect, then you won't be disappointed. I prefer the healthier options on offer at Holiday Inn Expresses in the UK, but I was still happy with the selection I found here.

The staff here are very personable and make you feel very welcome. There's a snack shop just behind the reception desk, where you can buy a small range of items that you can prepare in your in-room microwave. In the evenings, security is enhanced to give guests extra peace of mind.

I didn't drive, but the hotel has a good-sized undercover car park.

In summary, if you can get a room here, then you'll have a good value-for-money stay.

This is your typical high-quality HI Express, within a 10 minute walk to the Kodak Theater area of Hollywood Blvd, including the Hollywood-Highland station on Metro's Red Line. Hollywood Bowl appears to be about a 10 minute walk in the opposite direction. The staff is very friendly, and the hotel has an outdoor pool and great free breakfast. Covered parking is on-site, though I don't know what they charge, as I took Metro everywhere I went. Hotel is on a busy street, yet the neighborhood appeared safe, and my room was quiet.

Room Tip: Using LA Metro farecards is confusing, even for experienced subway users, so research in advance if...
