We showed up for a party of 25 for dinner and the guests of honor were really late. Ended up with 50 people! The owner Adriano was pretty much sweating bullets when he found out the party had doubled in size. His able staff quickly made table adjustments with much humor and grace. Service was impeccable considering the size of the group. We had antipasti, bruschetta, pasta, salad and a choice of salmon or chicken. Well I have been in the restaurant biz for 40 years. To be faced with a party of this size that doubles in heads, to set up extra tables, appetizers and dinners to accommodate is a feat in itself. But to then serve it all in a timely manner, delicious food and a fun atmosphere, that is nothing short of a miracle. Several parties were there that were obvious regulars, most likely due to the good service and excellent food. The tiramisu was light and fluffy. If you are anywhere in the area, I think you'll be confident to know that there are 50 people that would surely highly recommend Lupi as the place to eat.

This place has fabulous food, atmosphere, and service. The staff is Italian and has the casual feel of a restaurant in Italy. The calamari is very good as is their bread sauce. We usually sit inside, because I'm always cold, but the patio is great on a warm evening. The wine selection is good. We usually order a pizza and often a fish special. Both great choices.

Had a great meal here about 3 months ago, so made the trip back and was dissapointed. The server was a faux italian with a fake accent. The risotto was over cooked, the sausage polenta appetizer was greasy, the special pasta was only so so and the Nutella cheesecake was horrible. How unfortunate because our first experience here was awesome. Maybe a third try will be the charm. Jury is out.

Good La Jolla spot outside the crowds of the the main village. Nice for a pleasant Italian summer dining experience outdoors on a patio. The Host was charming and obliging; the Wait Staff of true Italians gave a good feeling. When the food started coming the presentation was beautiful. The Bruschetta melted in your mouth, the salads 'Caprese with the heirlooms' and 'cuori di palma e avocado' ... excellent. The main course pastas were tasty; nobody said a bad word about their food-- everyone in a tough group was happy. One small tip is to make early reservations, so you get a great table on the patio. Everyone who came after us was envious of our prime spot.

The only slight negative is the nearby parked cars, so you have the possibility of rude rich La Jollans idling nearby in Mercedes, talking on their cel phones oblivious that you were enjoying the quiet and calm.

But the food and people and place were 5 star positive experience.

This little restaurant was the best place we dined while visiting the La Jolla and San Diego area for a long weekend. Our family of 5 split a number of appetizers, salads and entrees and everyone of us raved about how tremendous the food was. We haven't had Italian food that good since we were in Italy a couple years ago. The freshness of the ingredients and the flavorful sauces on top of fresh pastas all combined to put us in a euphoric state. We all can't wait to get back to the area so we can return to this little slice of heaven.
Another aspect that we loved was the live music. Too many times in our experiences where restaurants have live music, it's too loud to have a conversation. This gentlemen was playing the guitar and singing and it was the perfect background to our meal and sharing as a family. Nice!
