After our previous hotel at otres beach didn't meet our expectations we went to the Sokha beach resort in hope of finding a comfortable accomodation near an accessible and clean beach.

Since there seemed to be a problem with the air condition and one of our two rooms was wet the whole time, we informed the staff about it after the first night. After a quick look at the rooms we were assigned two other rooms and received a free upgrade, so that our rooms were directly next to each other.
Special thanks belong to Tanja, who quickly managed the whole situation and was a very welcoming host during our whole stay in the resort!

The resort itself is huge; with 2 pools, a spa area and direct access to the beach it has everything you can wish for (and is currently building new accomodations on the site). The beach doesn't belong to the resort (which isn't possible at all in Cambodia), but since there is nearly no one at the beach, it feels like a private beach.
The breakfast is a huge buffet with delicious western and cambodian food; e.g. pancakes, muesli, croissants, fruits, noodles, soups and also an unlimited choice of fruit smoothies.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Sokha Beach resort, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the beach directly in front of the resort!
Our only critics would be, that there is no mixed spa/sauna-area and that the pool already closes at 07.00 pm. Since whole Sihanoukville is overrun by (mostly badly behaving) chinese tourists, this resort is no exception - but this is of course is not the resorts fault.

We visited Cambodia for 8 days, including Sihanoukville. After lots of interesting tours we were looking forward to relax 2 days at the pool and beach before leaving Cambodia. When we arrived at the hotel the pool was out of service. The other pool, which was offered as an option was in the other corner of the resort not far from a hotel under construction with noise and dust. The management promissed to have the pool ready by next day. The next day the pool was filled with murky green water. The beach was not an option to swimm. The beach and the water is dirty. Sokha Beach hotel and Sihanoukville in general are not places for people, who wish to relax some time at a pool and/or the beach.

Dear schlapferu,

Thank you for sharing your impression during your stay here in the resort.

I met both of you during the arrival and from then until now I truly understand your disappointments. I hope you did not disregard our efforts to please both of you by laying several options. I believe that it was explained to you the nature of the breakdown of the pipe.

In behalf of my team and as a hospitality provider, we can only please our guest the best we can. It is beyond our control to instantly resolve issues that pertain to or in accordance with the nature such as the "ocean" that covers the Gulf of Thailand. Please keep in mind that Asia on a rainy season.

Our beach is our pride, a 1.5 kilometer white sand beach long which is maintained as much as we can.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for not meeting your expectation. We tried. we will continue to strive to become better.

Sincerely yours,

Kim

We thought this hotel and staff were fantastic but we would not recommend going to Sihanoukville.

Building work was going on all around as the Chinese continue to build more casinos- 55 to date!

Roads were non existent so having tried to visit a few places we just stayed and enjoyed facilities.

Most guests were Chinese and if you can ignore their spitting (in the bushes or in the pool - it was chlorinated the next day) you can enjoy the hospitality.

Best to avoid Sihanoukville

Dear longmarch,

Thank you for your time writing the experience during stay at Sokha Beach Resort. We're grateful to hear that you appreciated our staff and our hotel.

True enough that there is a continuous development in the area. The season of your visit with us was also about bulk, group tourist from other neighboring Asian countries. Sihanoukville has also opened multiple direct flights this year.

It slightly disappointing to hear your dissatisfaction in the area however we hope in the near future you will still consider to revisit the province, Sihanoukville.

Sincerely yours,
Sokha Beach Resort Management & Team

The first day wasn't very welcoming but after a complaint, the hotel ambassador (Tetiana Bielikova) made sure everything was perfect and she even gave us options for upgrading room. We eventually moved to a villa. Very nice and comfy room. Room was cleaned twice a day. We stayed there for 3 nights. Last two nights were awesome and unforgettable night. Breakfast was good, wide range of food. Hotel shuttle to city was convenient. SPA was very good and high standard one. Its really cheap during happy times. Overall it was a nice stay with a tiny bitter memories.
