The rooms are taken care to reflect warmth, cleanliness and charm.
The Owners, John and Annette go out of their way to see you have everything you need for an enjoyable stay. They are right on the river, and a quick walk to town. Stores are downtown to shop for gifts and up the hill across the bridge for food and snacks.
You can fish, raft, or just walk along the river park taking in the Kernville charm.

Room Tip: If you like to BBQ ask for the room with the deck & BBQ. Want a Jacuzzi, they have a room with one of those too.

Even though the lodge is located next to the river, the accommodations were less than adequate. The room had no blankets on the bed; the toilet broke (we had to manually flush the toilet; the floor had a hole in it under the carpet; the television is from the 90's; the lamps didn't work right; the remote control stuck and the shower was so small that a person over 180 lbs would not be able to fit. We did enjoy the location being next to the river.

Room Tip: Room 10 is on the backside and very quiet.

This inn was very comfortable. Old style. But the bed was good and the place was clean. Right next to the river and eateries. A great stopover for a couple if relaxing days. Wifi good. Quiet as well. Showers and other amenities great.

Room Tip: It is a basic Mitel style room, but it was really comfortable.

My fiancé and I have stayed here many times throughout the past 6 years. We love the family that owns it, they are truly some amazing people. This has become our "go to" spot when we are in need of some R & R and we are never disappointed.

The rooms are clean and quaint. The beds are so comfortable that most of the time I don't want to get out of bed in the morning. There are little jars of candy in every room, now how many places do that nowadays? When you stay at the lodge the river is literally right outside of your door step. The chairs outside each of the rooms provide you with a nice little slice of heaven as you look out at the river and mingle with the other guests. The lodge is close to everything in town, better than walking distance, literally a hop, skip and a jump lol.

The owners of the lodge work hard for their business and it shows. The pride of ownership shines there. Every place will have a few quirks but the lodge goes above and beyond what most places will do. They are very accommodating and we never leave there disappointed.

My sister-in-law and I planned a weekend of hiking in Kernville. I had reserved a room at The Riverview Lodge 6 months in advance. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and were shown to our room by John. When we got inside John immediately noticed that there was an empty beer bottle and water bottle on top of the microwave, which he threw away. He then proceeded to show us how to use the remote. When he left we had a good look around. There was leftover food in the refrigerator. The floor had not been vacuumed and was filthy. The bathroom mirror had not been cleaned. The sheets had not been changed even though the beds had been made up.
The chairs in the walkway outside the rooms were torn to shreds, faded, and very dirty. There were months of spider webs hanging underneath the chairs that had collected leaves and debris. The whole place appears to be in a state of neglect and disrepair.
Fortunately, we were able to locate lodging elsewhere. I must say that John was very gracious and accommodating when asked for a refund. BTW The Whispering Pines lodge was very nice.
