“Small but nice.”
Reviewed 20 March 2012

Have drank CSJ wines for years. A few years the wines are BIG, but usually a good table wine.
The staff was very nice (Cindy), and the wine was fine.
It is, again, a very small and dark tasting room that speaks not of a top notch wine. I have seen nicer displays at Pavilions or Safeway.
Not a "Gotta Go" location.

“Good but inpersonal "corporate" winery”
Reviewed 7 March 2012

I really liked their chardonnay and the staff were nice, but this place isn't intimate, small or personal, and seems very out of place in Kenwood. There were buses of tourists in the parking lot, drunk bachelor/bachelorette/wedding parties stumbling around in heels, and ridiculously overpriced food and items to buy inside. I would recommend you go to this place first in your tour- otherwise the intimacy of the smaller wineries will make it pale in comparison. The wine was really good though.

“Was ok, very salesy..”
Reviewed 28 February 2012

This was our first wine tasting and we went late in the day, so we don't have much to compare it to to be fair. I just imagined a tasting a little differently. More emphasis on the wine itself and more education on tasting different wines. Instead we tasted 5 different wines and then were offered to buy a case or become club members. We weren't ready for that being it was the first place we stopped. It was the reserve room, so maybe our expectations were a little high. Anyway, the grounds are beautiful and the wines are good. I really enjoyed the Pinot Noir. We bought a 6 pack case of Pinot Noir and had it shipped to us.

“Beautiful gardens...wine tasting commercialized”
Reviewed 26 February 2012

Arriving through the gardens you are met with many backgrounds to take some beautiful pictures. At this winery, the tasting bar is housed in a spacious room shared with the gift shop. However, this is where it goes downhill...My experience was tainted by the wine tasting staff being high pressure. With each rushed pour he would state how few bottles they had left and we needed to "jump on this opportunity". Even one comment pulling in another staff member to mention that they had another buyer for a case and we shouldn't wait. My husband was able to ignore them but I felt that it ruined the tasting. I hope they change their approach as others may not like this either.
