“Peaceful Hideaway”
Reviewed 31 March 2013 for a stay in March 2013

We were not expecting to find such a little piece of heaven but we did. This is a Very clean, well stocked, comfortable, peaceful, cozy setting. Staying in vacation homes is how we like to travel and this place rates high on our list. Not your typical 5 star setting, instead a totally unique rating, worth experiencing. Cons: no washer/dryer, no WiFi, key pick-up was frustrating.

“Amazing desert getaway”
Reviewed 27 March 2013 for a stay in March 2013

My husband and I rented the Oasis for part of our honeymoon. I was not a fan of the desert and the Oasis seemed like a comfortable place to be introduced to the desert. I not only fell in love with the Oasis but the desert as I laid in a lounge chair, the sun setting behind me, silence all around me and I watched the colors of the sand to the sky change. This is a magical place. The house is cozy, sweet, romantic but would also be great for families. The bed was very comfortable, the house decorated in a way that sets an ambiance of peacefulness. The bathroom is very large with a huge shower. The kitchen was a joy to cook in and very well stocked with all you need to cook wonderful meals. The hammock was a wonderful place to lay and enjoy the desert mornings, sunset, and wind. We played horseshoes, danced in the wind to a sunset, thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub which was very clean and well taken care of. The tv, movie channels and sound system were a plus. Listening to relaxing music outside while relaxing in the hot tub after a day exploring Joshua Tree National Park is a must do. The smaller room with bunk beds worked nicely for us to store our luggage and clothing but would be an adorable room for children. The futon couch in the tv room made for comfy relaxing with a movie. We did not need to use the air conditioning or heat as we visited during the spring. The fire pit and fireplace outside made me want to come back when the weather is cool. Easy to find, easy to rent, very clean. Ron the maintenance man was so friendly and helpful. We did not meet Rae who cleans but she does an excellent job. Highly recommend and have already recommended this location and other properties to friends and family. I can't wait to go back. Twenty-nine Palms is a cute town, we picked up a few groceries in Save-a-lot which was a cute store. We had most of our groceries with us but would recommend visiting Save-a-lot for it's quaintness but shop at Stater Bros. We visited a gift shop in town and the owner was very friendly and helpful. We did hear some helicopters and the Marines doing their job out at the base but it did not bother us. We were prepared for it and if you are in the house or in the hot tub with the jets on you do not hear it. We did not want to leave!

Liked best: Hard to answer - the hammock and hot tub and peace and quiet
Liked least: the water doesn't taste so good - high mineral content but that is not the fault of the property

“Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 19 February 2013 for a stay in February 2013

My boyfriend and I rented the Adobe house near Joshua Tree National Park for 3 days & nights. This place is a hidden gem. A super charming, cozy little house - meant for a romantic getaway for two. We adore the outside jacuzzi & pool - very well-maintained - and there's little nook with a fireplace for cold evenings. Full kitchen for cooking. You have an unobstructed desert view - there's maybe 3 nearby homes - but you're pretty much in the middle of nowhere. There is room for improvement - i.e, the shower is dark & never gets really hot - just lukewarm with poor pressure. The fireplace could use a good cleaning - the place gets a little smoky when in use. Our biggest gripe is that the patio lighting doesn't work - so at night, it's literally pitch dark in front of the house, you can't sit outside and hang. It would be amazing if they could install little lights on the ground guiding you to the jacuzzi - it's about 30 feet away from the house itself, and like I said, in the desert, in the middle of nowhere, at nighttime, it gets pitch black outside!! We had to stumble over to the jacuzzi w/ a flashlight leading the way.
Despite these sometimes frustrating setbacks - the place is special. You'd never have this experience in a hotel or anywhere else. It feels like you're staying at a family member's home while they're away for the weekend - it has love, character, some maintenance issues - but it's welcoming and forces you to just slow down, relax, do absolutely nothing for 3 days.
My boyfriend & I are decidedly critical with high expectations. We're definitely all about luxury & superfluous amenities. However... we keep coming back here!! Our advice: don't go expecting a 5-star resort like experience - but definitely go. The desert surrounding the home is magical and the Adobe is the place to experience it.

“Beautiful and Secluded Desert Home”

Seven friends and I spent New Year's at Wikiup and couldn't have been happier. It's a very charming house with fantastic views, a pool and a hot tub (though in December it was far too cold to use the pool). Additionally, the kitchen was fully equipped with pots, pans and other cooking needs, which is a huge plus for people like us who enjoy cooking together, but don't enjoy lugging our pots and pans on vacation with us. I'd recommend this rental without hesitation.

With my family visiting in LA we rented Oasis house. Great stay, really nice house with a great kitchen and bbq outside for home cooking ! great desert garden all around the house where we enjoyed nap in the hammock and horse shoe game. At night fire outside and star gazing, th place is very quiet which is very nice. The whole lot is fence so really safe with the kid. Already want to go back !
