Description: The epicenter of Sonoma Coast dining...the River's End is located in the quaint village of Jenner by the Sea about 20 minutes north of Bodega Bay. The restaurant is set on a bluff overlooking the Russian River spill into the Pacific Ocean. During lunch you can watch the Osprey dive in the river for fish or the harbor seals frolic at riverside. Dinner time is all about the sunset - the show is worth the visit. Fortunately, the restaurant chefs and service staff aim to outdo the natural surroundings. The kitchen prepares California cuisine with a focus on local ingredients. Chef Martin Recoder prepares menus that are changing with the seasons and delight the heart. The service staff is led by Maitre d'/Owner Bert Rangel, who has owned and managed the restaurant for over 10 years. The Chef in the Redwood Bar is talented Patrick Keane. Trained at the French Culinary Institute, Patrick utilizes the freshest ingredients and classic techniques to create truly "Artisanal Cocktails".

AMAZING view. GREAT staff. Friendly crowd. The ambiance was great! Breathtaking! Restaurant was small and people crowded our window when the sun started setting but it was a great place and we'll be back! The menu had a little bit of everything and we brought in our own champagne from visits that day. Portions are generous!

Had high expectations due to several recommendations. Maybe this was an off night, but the food and service was absolutely horrible. Our waiter would disappear for 15 min at a time, I even went to the bar to get myself a refill drink when he failed to show up (and I had two drinks over 2.5 hours- I wasn't blowing through them). Most of us ordered the filet and while we all ordered it medium rare, they were all served medium well. The meat was drowning in sauce and cheese....to hide the over cooked meat or poor cut? Not sure which. There were several tables seated after our party of six that were served both apps and dinner and left before we even saw our dinner entree. I appreciate the European style of slow eating, but ignoring the table is another story. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

Great views, wonderful cocktails, excellent service and really delicious food. The space is a little dated, but it was a great night anyway.

The River's End restaurant is known for the spectacular views of the Russian River and the ocean from up on a cliff, especially at sunset. The night we had dinner, there was a beautiful sunset with partly cloudy skies.
The waitress was very helpful when we were picking out drinks for the children, recommending her favorites that got rave reviews from the kids. The night we were there the specials were all salmon that had been caught just a short distance from the restaurant. The salmon chowder appetizer was delicious and the salmon entrees (one with black rice, the other with farro) were enthusiastically received. Also local is the duck which was a very nice entree, consisting of duck 3 ways. The waitress and chefs had no problem customizing pasta entrees for the vegetarians that were with us. The waitress made several suggestions that could be made that weren't on the menu.
Definitely don't miss dessert. We sampled the fall trifle, chocolate mousse, creme brûlée, and strawberry ice cream. All were outstanding.
The only, and small, complaint was that a couple drinks came out late. I think it was mostly miscommunication between some of the wait staff and the waitress.
I look forward to going again when I am in the area. If possible, book a reservation for around sunset and enjoy the view while you have dinner.

Great views of the ocean and the rocky coastline. Wonderful setting! The bartender was willing to tweak The Aviator and make with Vodka instead of Gin. The kitchen was willing to make the beet appetizer without nuts. Great attitudes with staff both seen and unseen. Great, innovative local food well prepared. Not too far from Healdsburg, worth the drive!!!
