On our way to Marina the weather turned really cold and we decided to make a stop for lunch. This turned out to be Mullins - not being the country club type we were a little sceptical as to what it would be like. No need to worry - while the service was a little slow (again a large group so a little patience is required) the food was excellent and good value for what you got. We sat on the deck outside and the view onto the golf course and gardens was lovely. Nice atmosphere and good facilities.

We happened to find this restaurant while looking for a "quick place" to eat while driving along the coast. While it is associated with the Ritz Carlton hotel, it is reasonably priced with the amenities of an expensive hotel. The breakfast was top-notched. I'd recommended this to anyone.

While Navio inside the Ritz-Carlton rightfully gets the attention when it comes to coastside brunch, Mullins is a great option for a more affordable-but-tasty meal with the same breathtaking views along the rugged coast of Half Moon Bay. Mullins is the clubhouse restaurant located at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links on the Ritz-Carlton property. The Sunday breakfast option comes with complimentary mimosas, and the food was flavorful and freshly prepared.

Unlike the main Ritz drop-off, valet parking at Mullins is free. Don't forget to bring a jacket if dining outdoors, as it's usually chilly with the sea breeze.

Mullins offers a good menu of regional seasonal foods. I enjoyed a Chef's Club Sandwich with organic turkey, black forest ham, bacon and Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato. I had a salad with the sandwich but you can have fries or tartar tots instead. The food was great ($15.00) and the ocean and golf course views are beautiful. The reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because the wait and service could have been better. I suggest you make reservation in advance because between the golfers and guest of the hotel it can get very busy.

I was staying at the next-door Ritz-Carlton and came just for variety.

There was a Prime Rib special, which I was persuaded to order. Though the price was modest ($25), it turned out tough and dry, obviously made with inferior meat, and cooked in a rush (roast beef needs a good cap of fat and slow roasting at 350 F or less to let the flavor develop). And you shouldn't make the gravy out of bouillon cubes.

My feeling is, if you're going to have a Prime Rib special once a week, you should do it right.

The only bright spot was competent and friendy service by Diana. This was after the receptionist for no discernible reason tried to seat me alone in an empty back room, even though the main room was only 1/4 occupied and it was still very early.
