Description: CUCINA enoteca is a two-story, 8,500 square-foot Italian restaurant and wine shop located in Del Mar’s Flower Hill Promenade. CUCINA’s contemporary Italian cuisine is prepared with a focus on California seasonality + the bounty of local farms. Combined flavors of Italy with the organic freshness of Southern California is emblematic of CUCINA’s from-scratch menus. Standouts include shareable portions of house made pastas, innovative pizzas, cleverly crafted seafood and meat preparations, an elevated selection of antipasti, dolci, and signature cheese + salumi. Seasonal cocktail menus crafted with freshly picked herbs from their own gardens are precise, balanced + direct, combining simple flavors with sophisticated technique. Their NEW wine list amply represents all the benchmark regions labeled as 'Here', 'There' or 'Everywhere' for a delightful + approachable experience. Enjoy it there or take it home from their retail wine + gift shop!

I go out to eat at least 4 times a week, and I live in the North County area, so it was with great pleasure that I had one of the best meals I've had in a very long time at this restaurant. It started out with the best chopped salad I've ever eaten, and then my friend and I split the branzini and the osso bucco--both amazing.

The food, service, and atmosphere can't be beat. And it was moderately priced.

Thank you, Executive Chef Daniel Wolinsky!

Entering unusually through a retail wine section this large restaurant offers a choice of seating. There is a 20+ seating long bar, a community area with long shared seating tables with high seats, and several more conventional dining areas. The one to the right being exceptionally light and airy with a relaxed casual feeling. We ate lunch there but one can imagine that in the evenings the place is a hive of activity. An unusual feature is the wine offering: $9 corkage on wine purchased from the retail store section. That is great value, for example: Proseco at $25 plus corkage for say, 4+ glasses, compares well to $10 a glass. There were many other well priced wines that provide a real cost benefit compared to other restaurant pricing and mark ups. The food was equally appealing: large portions of perfectly prepared, fresh ingredients plated in an enticing way. The house chopped salad, which we shared, was both too much for us and demanded use of Google to identify the unusual ingredients listed. There is valet parking, but otherwise parking in the shared Flower Hill Mall lot can be problematic.

For a rehearsal dinner, the party was seated upstairs. Efficient layout, light and airy room, not too noisy. Food was served family-style and platters were very attractively arranged. The flavors were fantastic! Burrata+Tomato salad was really delicious and flavorful, with crisp buckwheat adding a nice note of crunch. A pasta dish (rigatoni?) included herbs that infused the sauce - yummy! The chosen desserts were a lovely tiramisu and lemon semifreddo with raspberry sauce. The lemon was the clear winner - just over the top flavor. Service was attentive and easy. Upon leaving, we walked down to the large main dining room - noting that its atmosphere was very convivial and seemed like a great place to try next time we come.

We were a party of 6 on a Thursday evening. The place was packed and it had a great vibe. We were seated on time for our reservation. The entrance of the restaurant has bottles of wine you can purchase for your meal. If you buy one of their bottles, they charge a $9 corkage fee. Service was great - attentive but not overly so. Food was also wonderful. All around a great restaurant.

There were 6 of us on a round table--perfect setting for conversation.
The wait staff was amazing; Our water glasses were never empty, our meals were presented. We all ordered different items and each enjoyed our meals.
