We are regulars at this and the Anaheim Benihana, and as usual, we had an absolutely wonderful experience!
The pros of our dinner out were the super-attentive waitress, humorous chef, and mouth-watering Japanese fusion courses. The bonus was the birthday treatment, including a photo, song and dessert.
I had chicken-fried rice, onion soup, side salad, and spicy Hibachi chicken with extra green onions (my favorite). I left full, fat and happy.
The cons were the enormous amount of soy sauce and salt they put on everything and the diminishing personality of the experience. I remember only 10 years ago there was more tradition (all the chefs are Hispanic now and don't really embrace the Japanese desire for perfection and detail), there were more personal touches and laughter, where now it's really going conveyor belt on the 'routine' the chefs are required to follow.
I'm still addicted and we'll still be visiting at least once per month, but I'll always miss the character and personality I once loved Benihana for.
Mata ne (bye for now).
