Description: As a restaurant with an impressive contemporary menu, Grasing’s offers the finest coastal cuisine paired with a ‘Wine Spectator’ awarding winning wine list featuring the best California wines. For a true Carmel experience, enjoy dinner on the pet-friendly patio. In March of 1998 Kurt opened the door to his namesake restaurant: Grasing’s. In an impressive first year it received enthusiastic reviews and was voted Best New Restaurant and Best Chef by the readers of Adventures in Dining Magazine. Grasings has been featured in Bon Appetit Magazine’s Best of the Year issue in 2004, and was awarded Carmel Business Association’s Business of the Year award that same year. Carmel Magazine proclaimed Grasing’s the Critic’s Choice. Grasing’s was awarded Carmel Business Association’s Restaurant of the Year as well as a Celebrated Chef of the Year Award from the American Culinary Federation – Monterey Chapter, in 2007. In 2013 Grasing’s was voted Best Restaurant in Carmel by the readers of the Monterey County Weekly. Carmel Pine Cone Readers Poll named Grasing’s the Best Restaurant for a Steak in 2014 and 2015. Open Table diners conferred a 2015 Diner’s Choice Award on Grasing’s and Trip Advisor has given Grasing’s a Certificate of Excellence in 2015 and 2016. 2016 also brought Grasing’s a win for the Best Restaurant for a Special Occasion in 2016 from the Carmel Pine Cone Readers Poll. In 2010, Kurt revamped Grasing’s by constructing a new bar and lounge along with completing a restaurant make-over. The warm hues and contemporary decor in the restaurant and bar gives Grasing’s an even more inviting atmosphere, giving it a new look with the same great food and first-rate service to which guests are accustomed.

We visit Carmel with dogs. Grasing's patio was covered , had enough heaters and, unlike any of the other places we visited had thick pads for the dogs to lie on to keep them off the cold ground. Checking Yelp reviews before we went almost all the terrible reviews referred to terrible service. That's what we experienced. Other table on the patio were well tended, the bus boy kept our water filled but thew waiter NEVER checked up on us to see how we were doing when we had been served and probably took ten minute between times that we needed to consult with him. If he had been attentive we could have finished one half hour earlier. If Mark is your server, ask to be moved to a different station. The Hostess was very nice, as were the busboys, and the Prawn dish was excellent, the pork chop was very good. The service knocks down the rating.

Forewarned is forearmed!

I had the grilled artichoke and tuna tartar at the bar with a nice glass of rose. It was great and the bartenders were wonderful. Great atmosphere, friendly place to eat alone, delicious!

Unsure of the restaurant itself as we arrived late at night into town and just wanted something light. Perfect choice. Promptly sat in the bar area by a polite hostess. Server, who I think was the barkeep arrived quickly. Suggestions were given and we enjoyed. The charcuterie and cheese selection was perfect as was the soup. Nice looking place as well in the delightful village of Carmel. Highly suggest you stop in!

My wife and I went with another couple and we all had good if not outstanding meals. I had the sea bass which was on a bed of beans and spinach which was alright but not great. The waiter we had was adequate, all in all we were satisfied but will check out other places before returning.
