We stopped for breakfast on a beautiful morning. The view was incredible. However, the service was terrible and the food was mediocre. You cannot imagine my shock when I asked our disinterested waitress if I could have some toast. She said that they do not make toast on holidays as it takes too long. She went on to add that they don’t even plug in the toaster! She did bring me some water on my third request...it was a waste of time and money!

Zelda's has been on the Esplanade for years and is the local legend for the place to stop. The serve both food and liquor, so you have have drinks with your meal, or just stop in for "Happy Hour". The service is decent, friendly and attentive, and a decent menu selection, they also have outdoor seating for drinks to people watch, or enjoy the beach, waves and scenery. The of course have seafood as well as other menu selections, and have always enjoyed the food, however this is more of a casual type of restaurant, rather then upscale or fine dinning, so no need to dress up, or your will be out of place. They have live music at times as well, and offer some specials on the menu, all in all, a good place to stop for lunch or dinner.

What a great day and view of Monterrey bay. The food is fabulous and view and vibe is incredible. I always stop in if I'm in the area.

I spent $16.95 today on a seafood melt sandwich that was easily the worst food I’ve had in years. The bay shrimp were small hard balls, virtually no crab present at all, and the salad that came with was a pitiful bit of greens only that included romaine that was going bad. Yep, it’s an outstanding view out on the deck so, have a drink but choose any other place in the village to dine if you want decent food.

Zelda's is a local legend, with an ocean view to match. It doesn't qualify as fine dining, but what it does, it does well. First of, it has a wonderful outdoor terrace right on the beach, and a "balcony" where you can sit with drinks, but not food. Inside is all glass along the water view. Zelda's hops, at all hours of the day--breakfast, lunch, drinks time, dinner, and in the evening. Several nights there is music. We are devoted to the Wednesday night jazz. In the last couple weeks, we have had the grilled salmon and the shrimp fettuccine. Both were excellent. The house wines are delicious and very reasonable, esp. the red. For dessert, we had chocolate lava cake one night and the bread pudding the other. Both were excellent! Service is friendly and attentive.
