I stayed here for 3 days. It's the best hotel experience I've had. The staff were very friendly and the location was exceptional. They couldn't do enough for me. I loved every minute of it. I will hopefully stay there again.

We stayed for four nights at the Paro Grand during our recent trip to Bhutan. The positives...The hotel is run by very friendly, hardworking & efficient team of ladies who provide excellent service. We had taken a MAPI Plan (breakfast and dinner) and food was quite tasty. Dinner was especially good, breakfast choices were limited. The location is divine...right on the banks of the Paa Chu river with craggy mountains to view. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. They have a pool and spa on the property. Negatives - the rooms only have a heater and no air-conditioning, so you will need to open the window to get any fresh air else it becomes very stuffy in the room with the heater on. (Temp was 6 degree C in the night and mornings during our late October stay). The bathroom fixtures need maintenance and we had a horrible foul smell issue which the staff and GM (Sonam) rectified by changing our room. The hotel does not have an elevator and upper floor rooms have to be accessed via flights of stairs. The breakfast and dinner hall are in a different building compared to the residential building. The approach road is in pathetic condition. On the flip side the location is far away from the city and once you reach the hotel in the evening you cannot get out again unless you have a car and driver.

Room tip: Get a ground floor room if you wish to avoid the stairs. Use the window and keep the wire mesh closed to let in fresh air but no insects.

This is a decent modern hotel albeit remote from Paro town but only 5-10 minutes from the International Airport.

Rooms are in blocks within a compound that includes conference and other facilities. Rooms are well equipped. Our dietary needs were met when a buffet was not available due to low demand.

We had noisy neighbours that were moved by the hotel even before we complained. An early start meant we didn’t get to sample breakfast.

(Swimming pool still advertised in some places has been filled in with a new building).
