Description: Drakes Sonoma Coast celebrates the local bounty of Sonoma's spectacular coastal region. Executive Chef Lloyd Norton excels in finding local, sustainably sourced ingredients, to prepare a menu that delights the senses. A large stone fireplace imbues a warm, casual ambiance, offset by panoramic views of Bodega Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Savor wines from the most exciting boutique vineyards in the Sonoma County, local craft beers and signature cocktails expertly mixed with a twist. Drakes is located at the Bodega Bay Lodge but is not exclusive to hotel guests. Open to the public for breakfast and dinner, Drakes is the perfect place to start or finish your day.

First of all the name has been changed to The Drakes. We chose this restaurant from Open Table. The restaurant is part of Bodega Bay Lodge. You need to know this because there is virtually no signage to the restaurant. We had to go into the hotel to find out where it was situated as it is in a separate building. It is obviously there to serve the Lodge and it is very busy. We were not able to get a reservation till 8:15 on a Thursday night. Once we did find it we had a thoroughly great time. the decor is very elegant and the service was very professional. It was attentive but not pushy even though we were near the end of meal service. The food was excellent. We had Tomale oysters to start and then my wife had the duck and I had the Steak frites. Both were well presented and excellent. The have a good wine list but also have a nice selection of wine by the glass. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.

Reservation made via hotel lobby staff was lost. Hotel staff entered the res via IPad device that in retrospect he must of had minimal training on. I wondered why it took him several minutes and hundreds of touches for a simple res?! Maitre'd acted like he was running a 5 star Michelin rest. We realized we had no options but the coffee shop, so ok its the same kitchen. Wait staff was friendly and trying hard, but...there is no organization or training. First waiter took our entrée order... sort of; never offered salad, wine or starters. Second waiter took all our order. First waiter brought our entrée only, No water, no bread. We told her about the second waiter, she took the food away. Second brought wine then salad, then the entrée. Menu is unimaginative and expensive. It's really more of a zero than a 1, but we didn't starve.

Stayed at the Bodega Bay Lodge - and went down for breakfast with the boys (ages 8&12). Good breakfast - great oatmeal and lox/bagel.
Extremely slow service. Not enough staff - couldn't get coffee refills....

Everything we tried was great. Very sophisticated cooking. Hubby had mussels 2 nights. Gnocchi was unusual...piled with fresh veggies and pesto one the side...home made and delish. The desserts - transcendent.
That pie, oh my. Also the chocolate cake.
I will start a rant - this place shows there's no reason for lazy cooking. Fresh and fab.

We had breakfast here and although staff and servers were good and attentive, breakfast was just fair. We were first to arrive in the morning but breakfast wasn't hot and eggs were greasy
