We regularly ride to here on Sundays for exercise and enjoy a coffee. So stopping for lunch was a natural extension. Good food, service and setting at a reasonable price. A very relaxing place to have a quiet lunch with friends. No alcohol on sale, but did not distract from experience.

Regularly walk around this area its just beautiful. nice grass area to relax and take in the view or follow the many tracks for a little walk. Cafe nearby which is also pet friendly. Also has a Train Station for Castledare train for the kids.

Kent Street Weir is one of those few places left in the world close to a major city where you can paddle on a natural river system, watch a multitude of bird species in their natural environment, see fish in the still healthy river water, picnic under huge gum trees, allow the kids to enjoy an interpretive ecological display, let the dog off the leash etc.
This is a magic place so close to the city you can cycle there.
It is a must for a family visit, picnic or no.
There is a big billboard telling of all the shows, displays etc that occur in the park for the next X amount of time.
A truly wonderful place of nature.

It is hard to believe that this place is so close to the city. The birdlife on the river is amazing. Darters, Spoonbills, Cormorants, Ducks, Moor hens, Eagles and Hawks all a short paddle up or downstream. The fish wete makibg the water boil there were so many. A paradise in the city.
