We stayed one night in one of the smaller rooms (nr 2 if Irecall correctly). Room was on the small side but was ok for one nights stay. Our hosts had larger rooms available so sticking to the small room was our own choise. Overall we were very happy with the friendly reception and for all good tips and dinner reservation. We can highly recommend Hillcrest Lodge but if you plan on staying more than one night go for one of the larger rooms.

I stayed in a suite which was on the second floor. My first impression was how clean it was. I stayed for four nights and was very comfortable. The owners are awesome and Bella and Abby are absolute sweethearts! (Yellow Labs). Another thing I liked was that if you wanted maid service, you put out a sign. Otherwise, they don't bother you. I will definitely be back!!

Room tip: Rooms away from the road are quieter.

This lodge is a quaint little place to stay. The owners are great. They bend over backwards to please. The place is convenient and pretty in-expensive. If you are looking for a place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Big Bear but want to stay close, stay at Hillcrest Lodge.

Room tip: Book directly with these folks if you are connected to the Military and get 15% off your bill

The owners - Ken and Val - are so very friendly and helpful. We had booked for two days but wanted to extend it to three days and since it was still available they arranged that. We would have loved to have stayed a week. This was the best part of our vacation in California. The temps that week were over 100 inland but in Big Bear were oh so comfortable. They provided a pass for us that we could use at different locations that needed it for parking. They told us of things to do in the area. We so loved taking the ski chair lift to the top of the mountain and hiking around - would recommend it to everyone. Cabin #7 was just what we needed. It had a living room with a double recliner which us "old folks" loved at night to watch tv. They had a fireplace but we did not use it. There was a separate bedroom and a nice bathroom - the shower looked like it was new and very spacious. There was a kitchen - a little worn but was all we needed. If we are ever fortunate to come back to California we would definitely stay here again.

Room tip: We loved Cabin #7 with the double recliners
