We originally booked Cathy's Cottages but upon arrival we were upgraded to Sleepy Forrest .. We had a wonderful 2 night stay and we would highly recommended this establishment.. The area around the rooms is well kept up as are the condition of the and the amenities they provide.. the staff was very helpful

We stayed at Sleepy Forest Cottages last week and it was perfect for what we were looking for. We had just flown into L.A. and wanted somewhere out of the city to stay for the night before carrying on with our road trip. We stayed in cottage 14 which was really cosy and just right for us. My husband especially is very particular about showers and it was fantastic - the best one on our whole visit apparently! We loved Big Bear itself and the Denny's just down the road was great - really friendly and told us a lovely place to go to see the lake and take a few pictures. We really fell in love with Big Bear and we will definitely be back, maybe to try the skiing and winter sports

Very Clean, Clean. Stayed in updated unit 17,Kitchen supplies of plates and cups that made it easy to enjoy a hot meal picked up at the local grocery. Loved the fireplace on the cool evenings. The staff went out of their way to see that we were happy. Location off the main road. Coffee in the library and sweets. Would come back here in a heart beat.

Room Tip: The units are Quiet most all the time. The center units toward the back would be my pick next time.

My friend and I paid for a lower priced room but after hearing about our rough day, the front desk upgraded us to the house across the street for free and also let us have a late check out the following day. And the house, btw, was awesome!

Getting away was more than a respite from work and the uncomfortable summer heatwave, it was also a refuge from the raging La Tuna Canyon fires only a few miles from our home. At 7,000 feet Big Bear is a great place for lowlanders to get away -- clean air and the smell of pine trees is guaranteed. When we arrived we were greeted at the office & explained where our cabin, #2, was located. Guests will find the office is where you can go for coffee/tea and cookies plus a library of DVDs can be checked out during your stay. When we opened the door to our cabin we instantly felt at home. Comfy sofas, kitchen with dining area, two bedrooms, upstairs and down, gas burning fireplace and an air conditioner upstairs, which kept us cool, plenty of outlets and free Wifi, which worked well. There is outdoor seating, BBQ, and a parking spot right next to the cabin. The kitchen has all the supplies you'll need for cooking and a full size refrigerator and stove. It's just like being at home. The cabin walls were decorated with photos and pictures depicting Big Bear in the winter and summer. The location of the cabin is perfect - very close to the town center, ski slopes, grocery stores, and restaurants. The lake is within walking distance with a small beach and picnic area. Although we only stayed a couple days, we had a very relaxing time, and was sad to say goodbye to our cabin in the woods.
