Surprised. We had several different servers. Asked one for something and she disappeared. Food good. Wine overpriced. Service poor.

Kristi served us, and did a terrific job. We had pear cider...wow! A number of small dishes, The stuffed quail was outstanding, tasty. The back pig dish was also memorable. The fried potatoes are really exceptional...great to share. We also had the Little Gem and the Mushroom Mont. A superb lunch for all.

Cesar has a, handsome interior, great delicious tapas-size dishes, very high quality food. It's next to Chez Panisse on Shattuck, is more casual. I can't imagine that it didn't feed off the Panisse connection but is definitively it's own place. Its bistro-ish environment can be pretty noisy/clattery so don't expect any quiet conversations.

A great place for parties four or more to orders many plates as seems reasonable and then wish you had ordered more. I have never had a dish that disappointed, and have become enamoured with their papas and sardines

Went there with 3 people for a light dinner. Prices are steep for what you get, very small portions. Tapas are one thing but tidbits are another. Not worth the expense.
