The service is horrible. We've had to wait an hour to check in, and an hour again to check out. The sunny beach is contrasted by the receptionists who don't seem to care when you ask a question. The room has not enough space to open two bags simultaneously...

The room was perfect! Big and comfy, the mattresses just amazing! and the distribution of the bathroom could not be better.
The pool area sensational!
True the service could be a bit better if you compare it to hotels in bigger cities, however for playas its really good.

Rooms are nice but only 2 or 4 with ocean views the rest are in a corridor arrangement. Service is lacking. The "free" breakfast is tha most minimal continental that you can imagine, so is the pay for American. Dinner is bland and expensive, not gourmet.

Room Tip: Top floors closer to the ocean

The hotel and the rooms were very nice, modern, spacious, but the people in the reception were very rude. They didn't even explain me anything about the hotel. She never smiled, she was upset. I had to ask about the amenities and so on...No information at all. Prices in the bar are very high. A simple hamburguer costs $12. My A/C didn't work, so I called the reception three times and waited for an hour and a half for at technician to come and never did. SO at 23h00 pm they changed us to another room. The next day, friends of us came to stay with us in the beach, PUBLIC beach. They spent $100 in 4 hamburguers, 2 ceviches and sodas in the hotel bar, but the waitress came and wanted to charge them $45 per person for "using the beach". Can you imagine this? My friends never used the hotel but spent money in their restaurant. It is so sad that a nice hotel, has a very poor and bad service.

Room Tip: rooms in second floor don't have elevators

Playa Paraiso is a resort property with an armed guard at the gates. Stretches from the road to the beach. The rooms are spacy and modern, and everything looks new and well kept. Good spaces, nicely kept. Two pools, bar, outdoor lunch restaurant and 'gourmet' restaurant. Basically it is high quality. Leave by the ocean gate and you have 12km of beach to walk on. What made our experience average and not great was the sum of cons: a) The safe in the room doesn't work. OK - We were given a new room. Solved. b) The aircon in the new room decides to call it a day (on the morning of our departure). c) You want borrow a hair dryer in the reseption? No way - 'we don't do that here'. d) Check out: took full 30 minutes (wrong sums on the bill/printer does not work). e) Since we were going to leave early in the morning, before standard breakfast time - could we have brakfast early? No way. Could we have a lunch box made ready to bring along in stead of breakfast - impossible. (Our travel agent listening in to the conversation managed to supply us with lunch boxes upon our departure). f) Filthiest part of the 12km beach? Outside of the hotel. Well, these are odds and ends, but somehow they manage to add up to something. Our main objection to the place was the price level in the so called gourmet restaurant. The food was ok (2 lunches and 2 dinners) but the only thing gourmet about it was the price level. Paying 10 USD (+tax and service) for a standard burger is bit over the top in Ecuador. All staff was friendly, helpful and nice.
