Not a question of if we return, but when.

We've been to many island resorts over the years, and have been fortunate enough to stay at some high end ones, including a few in the Aman resorts group. Both for location and quality of operation, this Aitutaki, Cook Islands boutique getaway is probably the best, in our opinion. Small enough (40-odd bures) to provide personal and excellent service with a particularly professional manager (Michael Shaw), remote enough not to have too many tourists like us around, serene in a safe lagoon on a quiet island, genuinely friendly locals, good to very good food--it is really difficult to fault our 8-day stay. The Sunday church services have fantastic singing, and the little scooters to go about the island on are loads of fun. Perhaps the snorkeling, while interesting, is not the very best (no soft corals) but we did see several eagle rays during a scuba dive.

We have been back in Australia for only a week and we are already missing Aitutaki and the Pacific Resort immensely.
The Pacific Resort experience was fantastic and our expectations were exceeded. The staff at the Pacific Resort were very helpful, professional and friendly.
We booked the beachfront villa #300. The villa was simply stunning and looked just like the photos on the Pacific Resort webpage. We have often booked rooms while travelling on the photos from a webpage, this is the first time the room looked the same as advertised if not better.
We enjoyed dining at the Rapae Restaurant, the food and service was great. The Island Night and Fire Dancing nights are not to be missed. they give a great insight to island culture whilst enjoying the delicious dining offered.
Our favourite thing to do everyday was to enjoy the late afternoon canapes on our own balcony overlooking the lagoon, it became a ritual.
The villa was superb and featured a huge twin bathroom, garden shower, king size bed, large lounge room and of course the large balconies.
The staff at the Pacific Resort can arrange just about anything. They booked a fishing charter, lagoon cruise and assisted us with a hire car. The lagoon canoes, snorkelling equipment were complimetary and well maintained. A special mention to Ann who assisted on many occaisions and who also arranged a spa /massage treatment for my partner that from was thoroughly enjoyed. The sp treatments can be conducted inroom for a smll additional fee.The gardens around the resort are stunning and meticulously maintained by the gardners. They even raked the beach every morning.
Overall I highly recommend the Pacifc Resort as the place to stay whilst at Aitutaki. We had a look at the Aitutaki Lagoon Resort and even though the location is just as nice as the Pacific Resort I'm glad we took the advice of other travellers on Trip Advisor by staying at the Pacifc Resort.
The Pacific Resort is at the high end of the market. It is a true luxury resort, you won't be dissapointed, the seemly higher cost will all be forgotten about quicker than you think leaving you with a feeling of value and money well spent.

We have just returned from 4 nights at Pacific Resort Aitutaki

The resort was beautiful the bungalows had everything and were all in fantasitic locations with perfect outlooks.

I found some of the staff very helpful but others not so.

The location of the restaurant was one of the best I have ever been to the view and setting excellent.

The service was not good and the food in some cases terrible and very over priced. We only had dinner there once.

The local staff were the best but always reluctant to say much I think the management is very tough on them and they seemed scared to do or say anything in some cases very nervous. The restaurant was not busy and we had breakfast there each morning as it was included in our stay and it was just as bad each time.

I did not feel it was a happy place! Shame as the resort and location was perfect!!

Everything was very expensive - over priced and there is definately better options for accommodation on Autitaki.

Part of me doesn't want to tell all of you about this place because I don't want it inundated by travellers but, IT WAS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUSLY STUPENDOUSLY AMAZING.

We stayed in Aituaki on a combination of Rarotonga/Aitutaki 2 week honeymoon. If you can - skip Raro or only spend 2 or 3 days there and focus most of your time staying at this gem of a hotel on Aitutaki!

The Pacific Resort in Aituaki is simply amazing. The Aitutaki resort is leagues ahead of the Raro resort without a doubt so if you have been to Raro but not Aitutaki - turn around and go back! From the introduction to the food, rooms, wine, etc., everything was done in a very professional manner and first-rate. Their ability to produce a first class resort is even more remarkable when you realize just how far off the beaten path this little island is! Every room is a standalone unit set privately on the beach between the swaying tropical trees. I could almost see myself in the shine on the hardwod floors and travertine bathroom tiles. The food (including breakfast) is cooked to order perfectly and the staff is willing to accomodate requests if possible. Snorkeling in the lagoon just off the beach is very good and there are many giant clams, eels, blue starfish, porcupine fish, etc. etc. to see. The staff is very helpful setting up lagoon cruises but, I recommend going on a private tour of the motus (little islands) so you can spend your time as you see fit.

Before you book please realize that this is a boutique resort but every room is standalone on the beach. It never felt "small" since there is ample room between the rooms and everything is cozily tucked away so the overall affect is very serene, peaceful, quiet and "at one" with the surrounding environment. The typical "big box" Ritz-Carlton, Westin, Hilton, etc. can often be nice but boring. The Pacific takes the best of the "big box" resorts and puts it in a little package. If you want to decompress with little or no access to the outside world - this is the place...

    - I had previously read reviews that stated the Pacific seems too "stuffy." This is not the case... as a young couple in our early 30s at no point did we feel that the environment was stuffy or snobbish. The staff is there to help make your stay enjoyable and at no point were they anything but wonderfully kind and respectful to us.

Finally, if my best friend was getting married and he asked me where he should go on his honeymoon or, for a romantic and exotic trip - I would immediately and without hesitation refer him to this resort!

We booked a 3 night stay on Aitutaki after our one week stay on Rarotonga. Although we stayed at a fantastic resort on Raro, I have to say that we were not disappointed in Pacific Resort. From the minute we arrived and were greeted at the airport in a small private lounge, to the personal greeting at the resort by its manager, Michael, we new we were in the lap of luxury.

Our spacious villa was right on the beach with a beautiful view and awesome sunsets each night, enjoyed on our deck with a glass of wine. Aitutaki is more laid back than Rarotonga, if that is possible, and I highly recommend you hire a scooter to bomb around this small jewel of an island. There are not a lot of restaurant choices outside of the few resorts here, so we found ourselves eating at this resort all three nights. The food was excellent right from the menu offerings to the presentation and flavor. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We did some snorkeling right in front of our villa and saw lots of colourful marine fish and juveniles. Snorkeling gear is available to borrow but I would recommend you bring your own mask and fins for personal fit. We did some diving while on Aitutaki with Bubbles Below and I would highly recommend this outfit. We met another diver on one excursion and she dove with the "other" dive outfit and definitely preferred Bubbles Below's operation. All gear is provided in the dive cost which seems common on both Aitutaki and Rarotonga.

As this is the tropics, you should bring some insect repellant for the evenings, mostly at dusk. You will also encounter small ants on your deck but that's expected as you are on the beach. Mosquito coils are provided in each room and we put one out on the deck for the evenings where we watched the sunset. The mossies were less bothersome there than they are at home :-)

There is not a lot to do on the island so 3 or 4 nights might suffice unless you truly want a romantic quiet vacation. From what I heard from friends staying at another resort and from what we saw, Pacific Resort is the jewel on Aitutaki.

My wife and I spent 4 nights (or our two week honeymoon) at the Pacific Resort Aitutaki. We stayed in a beachfront bungalow and had an amazing time! The bungalow is absolutely gorgeous! Hardwood floors, ocean view, glass shower with a view of your own private garden, etc. The facilities at the Pacific were very nice. The pool, restaurant, and spa were all beautiful. The beach was beautiful, but there were so many sea cucumbers it made wading around in the ocean... interesting! I would highly recommend doing a lagoon tour and try to spend a day on One Foot Island!

I must warn readers that Aitutaki is an island for travelers, not tourists. (Meaning: everything is on island time, no fine dining, etc.) Aitutaki is an amazing place to explore!

For all of you who are trying to decide between any other accommodations on Aitutaki - if you are looking at other resorts and hotels in the same budget bracket then the Pacific Resort is THE BEST. We have stayed at the other larger resorts and can tell you without a doubt that the Pacific Resort is wonderful! Also, don't miss the various cultural night the Pacific Resort hosts! They shouldn't be missed!!!
